I really like the last line of your poem. This poem reminds me of my sister who loved her cat. I could never have a cat because we have always had dogs. But "I listen for my heart's content; the echo of your purr" brings much love for your cat.

Thanks for your review. I am sure you feel the love for your dogs as I have had for my cat(s). I love dogs too.... 'the echo of your snore' isn't quite the same though, haha.

Such a beautiful, heart-wrenching dedication and poem of loss. Your words, crafted in hurt-your-heart expertise stay with me, make me feel your loss. I may be hear Cubby's purring echo hereafter. I hope you will hear it for real. Thank you for this touching expression.

This tugged at my heartstrings and reminded me of pets past. I don't think there's a pain greater than losing a pet really, and I like how you describe that pain in your exceptionally sad and well written tribute to Cubby.

The echo of your purr...what a beautiful thing to say! And write!!

Thank you so much for the high rating and for understanding my upset. But you would - how are your 3 cats?
reply by Gypsymooncat on 21-Sep-2019
They're all fine so far. We always get nervous round this time of year as it's tick season. They're all dosed up though, but still we worry for them and our dog!

Damn ticks! they sure are a menace. Gotta check so carefully - we had a dog get really sick in Canberra years ago after a visit to the coast.

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the loss of your beloved cat pet. It is hard to let them go when we know we could not do anything to keep them longer with us.

Thanks for your review, Sandra. When their time is up, we just have to do the right thing by them.

These words evoke the strong emotions and memories of anyone who has
lost a pet. They are a member of the family and are missed as such.
Good luck and keep writing
Joan

This is so lovely and heart-wrenching. This skillfully-written poem
conveys a very powerful, moving theme. Pets are not just animals we feed
and provide shelter for. They're friends/family members.

We lost a rescue cat in March and still miss Tutter terribly, even though we still have 3 other cats. It is heartbreaking to lose any one of our furry companions. But you have sweet memories of your precious time together. That picture is so typical of how they dominate our lives - and we love them for it! Thank you for sharing.

What a good idea to have a few cats at once. My home is so empty now that Cubby is gone.

Your last stanza is nothing short of precious. I know what you went through these last few months with Cubby and this is a glowing tribute to her. How on earth did you grab this pic of her? It's perfect. I know she will remain alive and well in your heart and soul forever. My deepest sympathies to you, my friend. She was lucky to have a mom like you. Lynda

What a delightful review, thank you Lynda.
I took the photo while standing on a chair (I am not a drone!). Cubby loves an audience, so she continued rolling around as long as the camera was pointed at her. She was lucky to have me, just as I was lucky to have her.

What a beautiful, heartfelt love poem, which would make as valid an entry in a love poem contest as would any about a two-legged companion. Your references to, i.e., listening "for the tread of your soft paw" and missing the "touch of velvet fur" in your lap are so identifiable (and heart-tugging) to those of us who've gone through what you're going through right now. I know how hard this was for you to write, but you did an amazing job.

My deepest condolences on Cubby's loss. Cubby, know that Tigger and Rocky will be there to welcome you when you get to heaven.

Thanks for your brilliant review and comforting words.
It's interesting to think of our pets gaining new friends in heaven.

You're so welcome, LisaMay. Your poem totally deserved the compliments and, as for the rest, I'm sure that Tiggie (my pet name for him) and Rocky will be waiting for Cubby with open paws.

Several details bring this poem home in specific ways: inscrutable topaz eyes, touch of velvet fur, tread of your soft paw. I am impressed by the descriptive feeling inherent in this poem. What a loving tribute poem for a beloved feline. Thank you so much for sharing.
