How did I miss this one, Melissa? Nice imagery, the moon leaning down to offer a kiss, the trees reaching up to receive it. There is a closeness between the two even though they are (on average) 238,855 miles apart. Yet without the moon, there would be no tides... no high tide, no low tide. These are caused by the moon's gravitational pull on the earth. (The Sun helps as well.) Sometimes the moon appears bigger than it actually is. This is caused by the angle we see it. Low on the horizon, the moon appears much larger. Actually, at certain times of the year, because of the moon's orbit, it is as close as 225,623 miles away. The farthest away it gets is 252,088 miles.
Can I make a suggestion? Your love story involves the Earth and the Moon. Yet, you write "Moonlight". I suggest,
(The Moon leans down to kiss the Earth, brushing its lips across the trees.)
In any case, I wish you much luck in the contest!

This is very poetic entry and a great one liner.
I had the fortune one morning when I was on holidays to witness what seemed the moon kissing the earth.
The moon was so huge .. that alone was overwhelming ...
..it was also so low that it appeared literally as if it was kissing the horizon ...amazing.
I still have a mental vision of that extraordinary moment.
I really wished I owned an iPhone to take a pic then.
I was speechless. There was a point of contact between the moon and the horizon /earth so it literally seemed the moon's lips ( not moonlight) were actually touching the earth.
