Delicious 'd' alliteration in 'deep' and 'dungeon's' and 'dark' and 'devour.' I like the way the poem definitely shows what 'insidious' means. Great illustration choice--a lot of mood there. Nice share!

I normally don't do horror, but this was just scary enough. The artwork set up your poem perfectly. Sending you my best today, and best wishes for the Obscure Word Poetry Contest. Spooky good.

thanks Sally, it seems the horror bug has bitten and for some reason, i am intrigued with writing both poetry and story (which is strange as I did not see myself writing stories on here) but i'm loving the challenge! have a great weekend my dear! :) xoxo

congratulations. I like your word, insidious. Not so complicated either. The image makes the word a little mystery looking. Great writing. Keep up the good work.

Get that insidious creature out of the hallway and into the dungeon itself then I'd recommend keeping the door shut!! And give all the souls a map or a GPS unit... there, problem solved.
Your poem reads well, descriptive of menace, and a good dash of alliteration going on.

I thought I was reading something by our much-honoured and missed Dean Kuch at first! This is very eerie, very well presented, definitely up there with one of his works, and included great word choices. I do love that word "insidious"; it says so much and even has a threatening lilt to it. Good luck!

What an honor for you to compare! since he has gone, i have been inspired to try my hand at horror! I love anything spooky (except most films these days lol), but have never tried to write spooky before this time in my life! thanks so much for your supportive feedback! xoxo

I like the title Danger ahead -be very afraid. Beautiful imagine the picture but also the one created by your words - an insidious creature creeping from the dungeon hallway devouring lost souls. Good luck with the contest.

Insidious has long been one of my favorite words, and I applaud how you use it to set a scene for a horror thriller. One quickly wonders what kind of creature awaits in the dark hallway. Rod

Awesome! And I think I would prefer to leave what that creature may look like to the imagination rather than being confronted and knowing for sure! Haha!!! Thanks for stopping to read and giving me feedback on this!!! xoxo

My pleasure. Rod

I love how your poem in and of itself defines the word insidious by showing, not telling what the word means. While this may not be what you intended, the first time I read it over I saw the devil between the lines. Exceptional.

Thank you! I imagine any creature waiting to devour a soul would be a spawn of Satan in one form or another :). Appreciate your awesome feedback! xoxo
