I'm pleased you like this poem - it was fun to write and it shows.
Your praise is heady. If ever I need a boost I shall ask you to write me a sentence or two... that would be a real picker-upper, just as your words here are. Thank you. xx

This is a fantastic poem. I'm glad you stored up the comment that drove its genesis. I especially liked all the words in the first two verses that described the words (if that makes sense). Good luck with the contest.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Your meter was spot on and you chose your rhyming words well. No forced rhymes here - and the humor made this even more enjoyable. Oh, and did I mention I loved the originality in this piece? Well, I'm mentioning it now, haha. Well, here's a six to show you how much I enjoyed reading this. Hugs, Lou

I love your choice of sports ~ cricket~ to showcase how words bounce and jiggle around until you catch hold and turn them into a masterpiece. Well done on the construction and fun approach with this verse.

WOW! I'm so glad I'm not out of sixes. This poem is so skillfully-written, descriptive, entertaining, and delightful. I love the anapestic meter; you have made superb use of it--and figurative language--to describe the power of words. BRAVO

Oh boy! What a wonderful review! Thank you so much. I looked up what anapestic meter is and it's all gobbledygook to me, it mentioned dactyls as well (they sound like prehistoric monsters) - my poetry just comes out as it feels then I polish it a bit so it sounds right.

This is an outstanding display of using words, as you say, to laugh and cry. I like that you used the historic sporting event of the first recorded game of cricket between women to support your poem. Your work is timely given the problems women's football is having with equality. Well done.

What a terrific review - thank you so much. I have been interested in the publicity about women's sport and equality. In that cricket historic item I included in author notes I was intrigued by the mention that it was probably a woman who came up with the action of overarm bowling. Women have been 'playing from the sidelines', second fiddle, for long enough probably.

Dear Mystery Poet,

I'm not quite sure what the poem has to do with cricket, except for all the batting and beating and catching and twisting, but I ADORED your poem. It made me so happy as I read. Each line flowed beautifully down the page gathering momentum and fun. Love, love, loved it!!!

(PS -- yes, I did read your notes and I did see the part about the last stanza.)

Thanks for the laugh! Good luck!

Wow! When inspiration visited you it stayed all week! And you fed it well! This is such a delightful buffet of everything. Puns, metaphors, personification, and plain old poetic license. This prancey and dancey poem deserves to win the contest.

I have a very hungry inspiration - it gobbles up pretty much everything as fodder, which is why this poem has such a collection of mixed metaphors! Thanks for your brilliant rating.

A very enjoyable read. Your muse is playful, and a bit witty, and doth speak to other muses of possibilities. Great job, a poem for readers and writers and poets to enjoy.
