This meets the contest requirements nicely as you deliver a well constructed 5-7-5 expressing the season of winter. The content is artfully executed painting a vivid portrait of the frozen water's opulent appearance. Good luck in the voting and thank yo very much for sharing it.

I see we shared 2nd place in the contest - aren't we clever! Thanks for this nice review.
-
LOL! If I have to share I am happy it is with you. We even both used ice - serendipity.
-
Yes, I though they were similarly inspired.

I thought this was a very strong and beautiful poem. The images are vivid and the comparison to Waterford Crystal is truly clever and thought-provoking. I'm sure this will do well in the contest. Good luck! MM

A very well-written 5-7-5 ode to winter. Wonderful scenes like this make the ice cold weather all worthwhile. It is a great picture to complement your poem.

I was as fascinated by your authors note as much as with your poem. I like your use of the image to enhance your poem. I yearn for Fall and winter to return.

Thanks for your review. When I researched Waterford Crystal i thought the information just HAD to be shared. This prompt was probably put up to cool you guys down... I live in the southern hemisphere so it is winter here now.

I stopped and decided to post a review of your poem because of its effective use of visual imagery. I can easily visualize frozen water as an icy chandelier. Your words are very evocative.

Thanks for your comments, Dolly. I saw a frozen waterfall once and it was beautiful. I could get in behind it and not be wet.

Very nice poem - and the information about WAterfall crystal is quite interesting. Amazing the skill studied, tried and learned by so many. I think of the years it took to get it right. Wow.

Such a sparkling entry for your contest entry !
Vivid verse goes with your selected illustration.
Like the 'sound' of "icy shards" and "waterfall crystal."
Your author's notes are an added bonus.
Best of luck in this out of season prompt. LOL

Thanks for your comments, Mark. The prompt must have been put on for us down-unders who are 'enjoying' winter now, or to cool you guys down maybe.
-
My wife is from below the Equator so I know when Winter is.
I married on the first day of Summer. Can you guess within 1-2 days that date?
Mark
-
Whose summer... up there or down here?
-
I already gave you a clue LL
Take a guess. If you are wrong, I will share the correct date AND location (-;
-
Well, if it's within a couple of days it must be a shifting date and not the beginning of a month and summer officially starts on 1st December here, so it's probably the solstice so that's usually around the 20th June?
-
LOL
Our northern hemisphere officially l starts on or about December 21st. And that is indeed my wedding anniversary date. But I married to 'my' Girl from Ipanema on that day in Rio de Janeiro - ergo southern hemispher's first day of Summer!
-
That's an exotic sounding wedding!
I learned something... I thought winter in NZ started at 1st December, not so close to Xmas. I was wrong. I like being wrong sometimes... it means I'm still learning!
