Love the pragmatism. No sense crying over spilt blood.
I find it interesting the way various authors wove the required words into their story. Your use of 'clock' was an interesting departure.
I suspect hubby's forklift license might be outdated.

Congrats on Second!

Peace, Lee

Thanks for your appreciated and appreciative review, Lee.
I think when he looked at it, hubby's forklift license was for at the dinner table.

This one-hundred-word story, Buried in Debt, has the correct word count and uses the assigned words. Wow! This went from a DIY with a little help from a pro, to a depraved indifference homicide and cover up. Turned on a dime.

    Thanks for your review.
Not nice people! Callous indifference. Should we admire their sense of looking on the bright side?

That's what I call a true picture of a bittersweet ending to a nice little story. It was a nice little amusing story but I had to read it three times to make sure I had it right.

    Thanks for reviewing.
The story carried along in an unemotional, uneventful manner, then the horrible reality of a death... and yet there is no concern, just a pleasure at more biscuits and an evasion of having to pay the landscaper. Not nice people!

Now the search begins again. I like the playfulness of this piece. However, it feels as if someone is unemotionally relaying information from a list of predetermined notecards.

Thanks for reviewing, Mia... but i don't quite get what you mean by 'from a list of predetermined notecards'.
Yes, I did write it in an unemotional 'voice' so that the death would seem more terrible for the lack of concern.

That's a good way of getting rid of debt, getting rid of the expensive contractor, albeit accidentally of course, but not much compassion, but a marvellous write, very funny my friend. Imaginative and clever, well done, blessings, Roy

They couldn't have done it better if they'd planned it on purpose! Very practical and positive folks, looking on the bright side.
    Thanks for your lovely review.

This was so funny! I'm reading this and in my mind the only thing was the characters that came to mind was the Flinstones! LOL I could picture Fred getting in that vehicle and starts moving rocks like in the beginning of the show where Fred is running a vehicle at the quarry. I could just hear him yelling WIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLMAAAAAA! I was sitting here laughing to myself. I think I'm really tired and better head off to bed. Night everyone! Oh, and Fred, don't forget to put the cat out.

I hadn't thought of the Flintstones, but now you mention it, YES!

Sorry I didn't understand the title. Buried in debt. Cause, the story that you were telling. They seem to be OK. But you did use all of the words. So today is 3 star's. Keep up the good work. (Emma

I am sorry the title is obscure to you. It's called buried in debt because the rocks have buried the landscaper and the people owe him money, so they are in debt to him, but they have killed him, so he is buried. Maybe you don't have much experience of debt, but if people have a lot of debt they feel buried by it. Maybe these people had lots of other debts - they were anxious about how much the cost was going to be - so now they are relieved that the current debt has been buried along with the landscaper.

EEEEEEK! The matter-of-fact tone to this tale really adds to the fun when we reach the squishy end. As for the biscuits... this lady has a strong stomach. Very well done.
