A moving poem about an ageing man. Describes vividly how the priorities changes with age. How winning and achieving is not that important as you enter your old age. And the fear of just not being alive, comes through.

I really, really like this one. It reminds me now of my husband and how he feels today. He has actually expressed this, and I see it in his face and spirit.
Your poem made me very sad; I watch people, especially the older ones because I care what's in their heart as most of their life is behind them. I, myself, am going through touches now and again, tiring emotionally and physically.
Your artwork choice was perfect. The poem itself was divine; loved the rhyme, loved the title. Wish I could give you a great big hug but, since I can't, I'll just wish you the very, very best in the contest :)
Thank you so much for sharing.

Ah, Willie, you're making me sad. Do you know how much you mean to me and so many others here on FS? A great deal. When I discovered you here, I was thrilled. You're not only a great writer and poet, but you have a big heart and grit. Plus, I could relate to your law enforcement career and love of the Old West.
    Take care, my friend :)

This is wonderful. You took me on a ride through the rise and fall of your years. Since I have been a a similar journey before, I felt right at home. Your expressed emotions that I too suffer from. For instance seeing the world as such a bleak place with little hope. That is so wrong of me, but it is what I see nevertheless. I don't want to give up, but my options are becoming limited.
We are in a sad state, and you express the sad dilemma so well.
