What you write is so true and yet so many hesitate to be involved in daily life. Me? I write of myself, and won't dwell for what I choose is fine with me, though it might improve to leave the cocoon I knitted myself into. No regrets here, though.

What I find amazing in reviewing is the varied thoughts that stretch as close to, and far from me, as may be possible but likely not. Confusing and Uplifting, and perhaps even both at once.

I liked how you used this box image to represent different experiences of life, like concealing elements of yourself from the outside world, taking elements of your inner world with you around in the outside world, and as a presenter of hidden joys and delights. estory

Interesting free verse! The more I think about it the more I appreciate the metaphorical boxes we all deal with in life. We're boxed in or boxed out or seem to confine ourselves unwittingly. Wisdom in your final stanza! Get out of our box and expand our horizons!

That was very good, June, and with excellent advice for all to heed. It's no good having something bad in your box, best to have the good things life offers, and there is plenty of those around. Well done, my friend. I very much enjoyed this one. :)) Sandra xx

Comment from June Sargent
From the perspective of our cats, a box has many sides and a box can be many things. It can be a bed, a house, a fort, or a litter box. It is a joyous thing that sparks imagination in cats - and children. But, a closed box can be a problem, as you say. Like a present, it needs to be open in order for others to see the beauty of what's inside.

Comment from Janet Foor
Wonderful analogy. Profound and thought provoking. You never know until you open the box.
I love boxes (except the ones in my attic) but even those are fun to open and it's like Christmas as I don't remember what I put in them. (smile)
Very nicely done.
Blessings

Thank you, Janet. Yes sometimes those boxes are hard to open but when you do it is worth it. Also some you may need to get rid of.

Our final destination is to end up in a box, but there are many joys to experience beforehand. Boxes with gifts are given and received and my kids love playing with boxes! An unusual and inventive write Joan, love Dolly x

like this poem about boxes and the secrets that they may contain.
like the last stanza the best
One needs to change
The last box to one of
The others to ever
Have a full, honest life

I find this an interesting free verse, of perspective and multidimensional thinking.
-Sparkling in this piece, you show us: the box.
-In reading your piece, I am reminded of another box: the box that becomes someones home and the rooftop of the homeless.
-I felt this was a compelling topic and you brought an authentic voice and viewpoint.
I thought this was an interesting and structured poem. All the best.

Excellent entry for the Potlatch challenge. I love free verse and can't write in rhyme at all. Yours is very good. I like the idea of good and bad boxes..it's very unique.
Nice presentation. Your words flow well in a very descriptive and clear way.
Good luck in the contest.
