This would make a beautiful song! I can not only hear the music, but I can feel the emotions of friendship growing into love. Just spend an hour, that's all. And see where it takes us. Great job!

You might want to put in "an" in the last writing of the chorus. Other than that it is a beautifully written lyrical poem with all the elements. The picture suits it so very well. I truly wish you the best with this entry!

You are ever so welcome. I think every writer, no matter how proficient they are has done that at one time or another. As for myself, more than one time or another.

This is such a beautiful poem that could easily be turned into a wonderful love song. I really enjoyed reading this and love your references to sand slipping through your hand. Excellent choice of picture as well.

'll tell ya right straight up-front, Diana.
I'm not a big fan of romantic poetry, much less the topic of romance in general.
To me, love is but a myth, an emotion driven purely by lust, desire and want.
Like scratching an itch to satisfy a need.
People ask, "Why do you write about such dark, dreadful things?" to which I answer, "Because darkness is real but can be beautiful all at the same time."
Like a moonlit night sky filled with thousands of twinkling stars, for example.
Putting all of those feelings behind you did such a fantastic job at writing this that I felt I would be slighting you if I awarded your efforts with anything other than a six.
I'm glad I still had one left to give.

I was thinking as I read this, it should be a song, then I see it is a Lyrical Poem. Just put some lovely music to it, it could be a hit! Well done, Hope you do well in the contest. Rox

Thank you so much for reading it and your precious comment! I wish that I was musically inclined enough to put a tune to it. Maybe one day I?ll find just that song writer who has just the right melody. Heck we could collaborate if you had a tune in your head! xoxo

Great song! I liked the lyrics and the rhyming scheme. It had a nice flow, I found myself trying to sin it in my head. Good luck with the contest, I may have to make an entry myself.

Awesome thank you so much because I believe that somewhere out there there is a tune for it I?m just not that musically inclined enough to come up with one. If you actually can put a tune to it maybe we should collaborate. xoxo

Among other things, two things caused me to really like and enjoy this poem. One, of course, is the message it is telling. Spending time with a true (and actually only) friend. And, two, the repetitive "chorus". It help to solidify the rhythm of the poem , ultimately making it lyrical. Loren

Hi, Diana. This appears ro be a good entry in the lyrical poetry contest. I liked the way it sounded to a certain point, but, being honest, I didn't care for these lines:

" I'm sure that you'll find
great treasures of gold.
Won't you stay and be kind?

I don't think rhe falling in love should be reflected and compared by gold in this way. (Probably just me though.) Good luck in the contest. Bob

Thank you Bob, I appreciate that you even read it in the first place! The gold is a little bit like Neil Young?s song ?heart of gold?. I have always love that reference.
