Forgive me, Rachelle, but I just spit up my tapioca.
'you can take something for it'?
Very sly. Very sly.
Best of luck at the polls.
Peace, Lee

I came in third. Now go clean up your placemat.
xo
-
Third? There's no justice in this world. L
-
No, no; first and second place were terrific. I have no problem being considered in their league.
Ditto for your SoM piece. I was proud to be second to you. Your talent is exceptional. xo
Comment from Habib Oke
Wonderful piece! I like its simplicity portraying a serious habit of stealing as something everyone abhors.
But how did you mean "But now let's look on the bright side: You can always take something for it." ?

It's the punchline of the piece. You know how if you have something wrong with you --headache, stomachache, sore throat?--you know you can take something (medicine) for it. Well, a kleptomaniac needs to steal in order to feel better...so that's the joke: they can TAKE something for it. But, in their case, it means they'd steal. It's a little play on words.
-
Great job! I get your point, just like a pun -- play on words, and it's really fun.
-
Thanks, Habib.
-
And I hope you always feel comfortable asking. It helps me be better about writing clearly when you do that, so I appreciate it. xo

Ahaha! What a delicious play on words here, Rachelle :) I have never had this particular problem. I don't need to "take" anything for it. You got a chortle out of me.
Best wishes in the contest. I think you just took the lead in my books.

Very funny. I love the play on words. Still chuckling as I re-read this. You infuse a serious theme with humor that doesn't demean the subject or the humor. Well done. Hugh

Rachelle!!! Take something for it??? LOL!!! That's so funny!!! It is supposed to be, right? Or have they come out with a pill for that too? I can hear the commercials now... "Do you have wandering hands? Can't keep your sticky fingers off other peoples things? Take "Keep Away!" Bind your arms to your sides and never take anything that doesn't belong to you again! (possible side effects could include: bleeding out the eyeballs, possible stroke, heart attack, or aneurysm...) lol Do these things not all scream, "TAKE ME!!!" LOL

Hahahha! No, you were right; it was intentional. But that WOULD be a hilarious pharmaceutical --especially with you in charge of the ad campaign.

This is a super cute poem and it is very well done. I love the humor you used at the end of being able to "take something" for the kleptomania. Love this!

Yes, so true. Thanks, Hitcher.

Your ultra-concise poem very cleverly meets the requirements of the prompt. I like the play on words and the imaginative rhyming of
"abhor it" and "for it."

Rachelle: great photo of the word, Kleptomania. Stealing
something out of another's purse, terrible. I see people
shop at the grocery store and walk away from their purse.
We need to be extra careful. You brought a good awareness
to this action. flylikeaneagle

Thanks very much. I had someone tell me that was pick-pocketing, whereas kleptomania was trying on a sweater in a store and walking out with it. Oy. Anyway, thanks for the validation. I appreciate the review. xo

I enjoyed your contest entry, Rachelle. Good job with the prompt. Your words flow well and make perfect sense. I love the play on the word when you say take something for it. There is always something to 'take' for whatever ails one in current society. Your picture is a great pairing, too. Great job and best wishes. Jan

Thanks very much, Jan. I thought it was such a fun idea for a contest --taking something serious and making it less painful with humor.
I appreciate your review very much. xo
