How beautiful. What a touching remembrance of your deceased wife and the wonderful romantic life you lived together. Your last two stanzas, allowing the reader to read between the lines, is truly what makes this poem so beautiful. I can see how this poem was a winner!

The gentle reassurance of a deep bond of love is evident here. Your poem depicts, simply and directly, the tranquility and peace-inducing sleep possible when one is lying beside their matched life partner, knowing the feeling is mutual.

Firstly, I am sorry for your loss even though it was a long time ago. It's obvious your wife still lives in your heart and was irreplaceable. You pay her beautiful homage here without being sickly-sweet, and that's not easy to do when writing love poems. I also like the rhyme scheme; it's sort of free verse but not, and even though it's a contest requirement, you wrote it like you made it up. Good luck!

I'm so sorry she's not with you today Willie, but I can see she's locked in your heart, were nothing can destroy that reality or memory. I can't begin to tell you what what you already know of the value those words have to me, and anyone reads it. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever read on the site. You captured the best of romantic love creatively and lovingly. I do not have a six, but this should be showered in stars. You conveyed your love in the most precious of terms and I am certain she is smiling down on you for it.

What can I say, I can relate to your word.
I like the photo that you choose to go with your poem, they are a perfect match.
You captured my attention from the start , I thought of the time me and my husband sometimes said not word be we knew our love was true.

Sorry for the loss of your wife. The poem is beautiful! You can hear the tenderness in your words. Some people dream of having a love like it sounds of you and her.
