Veronica is so fond of Mildred, they have been together since before Veronica was born! LOL. I will miss these characters. xxx

I've read that before, by many an author. They say it's kind of like a mourning period!

Ooh, Veronica's playing hardball!! She's a feisty thing, when she gets stirred up!!

I like this chapter very much. You've written a lot of satisfying twists and turns. Can't wait to see what happens with Mildred. :-)

Two possible corrections:

"Oh Lordy, Miss Veronica, I wish I'd have been there!" "Mildred sat enthralled as Gladys and I told her what happened"? (Should the last sentence lose the quotes and have a period instead of a question mark?)

"I doubt he'll want him in (on) his team at all," Gladys said with a smug smile.

I have no idea how that happened. I went and checked my MS Word copy, and it's not like that at all. Thank you for letting me know, no one else spotted that. Weird! Thanks for another lovely sixer, my friend. There are two more parts left, and the surprise comes in the very last part. I can't wait to post that one. Big hugs, my friend. :)) xxx

"Gladys" is a ghost who was murdered and "Veronica and Mildred" are helping her seek revenge against "Charles" by having him thrown out of the navy during war time. Indeed, a disgrace for an officer to endure. "Mildred had sat enthralled as Gladys and I told her what had happened". Seems a tad wordy. Perhaps for consideration only: "Mildred sat enthralled as Gladys and I told her what happened"? In situations like this one so often it is indeed the child who wonders what they did wrong to make a parent leave them, as "Tommy" would. "Tommy" gets summoned in regards to "Charles" actions and the question arises where his father's insanity comes from. In the end, "Veronica's" compassion for "Mildred" shines forth with her own raging outburst. That leads to the question of whether those she spoke to will oblige her request or not.

Thank you so much for reading this part, Brett. I've made the changes to that sentence and can see now that is was rather wordy! You've worked out the plot really well. There's only two more parts to come, and that will end the trilogy. It's been a long time! lol. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Well, if the 'powers that be' don't respond to that rant, I'd be very surprised! Another super chapter, Sandra, and one that leaves me a little sad because there are only two more to go. Well done, you, for writing such a wonderful trilogy. I shall miss reading your wonderful writing when it's finished.

Thank you so very much for this lovely review, Alexis, and for all those shiny stars! I'm so pleased you have enjoyed all the books, I fell sad it's coming to an end. I'll be lost without them messing with my brain! LOL. Who knows? They might come back in the future. Thank you for all your support, help and encouragement, my friend, I've really appreciated it all. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Amelia gives an Oscar-worthy performance as she feigns shock at her nephew's behavior. What to do with Charles now that he has had a 'nervous breakdown?' His aunt slyly states that the insanity must be on his mother's side of the family, and Charles should be in a mental hospital. Tommy says it would take a small army and a straight-jacket to accomplished that. I love Aunt Amelia's enthusiastic reply of " If that's what it takes, so be it!"
Good job. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Hello Sandra!
Wow!
Veronica is one gutsy female to give the "Powers that Be" an ultimatum!
But what I thoroughly enjoyed was the scene and rendering of Charles and his going "berserk" in front of Churchill. Great fun...at Charles' expense. Would be a hoot to watch this play out on stage.
Wonderful dialogue.
Excellent timing.
A fine read!
thank you!

I am so glad Charles is having issues. I hope they do lock him up. I also hope Mildred gets to stay so she can be with Tommy. But would that mess up history???? I do love this story.

Tsk, tsk, temper, temper Veronica...lol

very good addition to the story here. And why indeed are they still there?

Mildred's hopeful expression dittoed my feelings. - I really dislike dittoed here. I know it'll just be me but I feel echoed is a much better fit, or mirrored.

I stopped, then grinned. "Okay, I know it's my crime, but your murder is his, and as such, he should be punished. - I think you need closing speech marks here.

"I'm sorry, dear. I know you love my son, but it's a doomed relationship that can never work, isn't it?' - change the closing speech marks to match the opening ones here.

rom what Daphne, his secretary said, Father went berserk.- I think you may need to move the comma from after said to before it.

Thank you so much for all this help, Gareth. I've put the comma before 'said' and reading it, I'm wondering should I still keep it after 'said' as well. I'm not sure. Thanks for spotting the other missing speech mark, and the different one. :( Two parts and a short epilogue to go. (or is that prologue? My brain has just died!!!) lol. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra x

-This chapter is full of emotion, Sandra.
-After the discussion of Charles,
I like how you show Gladys'
concern for Tommy when Mildred
has to leave, but she also brings
up how difficult this will be.
-That is shown when Ver. begins to
question why they are still there, and
how badly she feels for Mildred.
-But, they take the discussion
back to the Admiral, to catch
Amelia up on the details.
-She and Tommy leave no
doubt as to how they feel.
-I like the Oscar reference, too!
-You pour in so much emotion at
the end that seems to come
directly from your heart and soul.
-Veronica has had enough, and all she
wants is for Mildred to have a
chance at love and happiness.
-I think you showed raw emotion
pouring out from Veronica; she
has been through so much, too.
-Looking forward to the next steps,
but not wanting the story to end!

Thank you so much for another of your lovely reviews, Pam. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one, it's becoming very hard for all three ladies due to Mildred and Tommy falling in love. How can this work out? :)) Two parts and a short prologue left. Biggest hugs, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xxx
