Hello Mystery Writer!
What a hoot! Now, I look horrible in hats, but I truly can envision the hat in your photograph atop one's head, and I might even exclaim myself, "Well, Yankee Doodle!"
Smile for my day!
Thank you!

I am very surprised that you don't look good in hats, Diane. You have lovely features and a strong jaw. But I trust your judgment. My husband is the handsomest man I've ever seen...until he puts on a hat, and then all I can do is laugh. They look SOO very bad on him. Unbelievable transformation.

Anyway, thank you for this delightful review. I appreciate it very much.

As my thought was "dapper hat!" maybe this poem wasn't aimed at me, but I'll say my piece anyway.

Good humour here, the ability to both laugh at one's self and everyone else without causing offence is a charming trait.

I like the wacky vocabulary you've used sparingly, but effectively.

Good luck in the contest.

HAHAHAH! I'm an old lady, and I don't know if I'd do that!!! Well, maybe I'm just not THAT old just yet! ;) That's really funny, I can't wait till I'm old enough to be able to say whatever I want and blame it on senility. ... Maybe I'll dye my hair gray next time??? ;)

I doubt many would know what you mean with Yankee Doodle. LOL. Just old folks who have seen much of it all. Wear the Corsica and glad you have it. Thanks for sharing.

Oy, even knowing the lyrics to Yankee Doodle signals our age now??! This is very bad news, indeed!! Thanks for your fun review, Ben.

I can hear the old ladies saying this to Mom as she wears her hat to the senior center. It is true; age gives one the right to speak. After all..they have survived the deluge of life!
Great little poem you have penned.

LOL! Well...this poem is a "Dandy!" And true? Amazing!! I like the plume. Guess that makes me a Yankee Doodle. Good rhyming in this poetic work. Enjoyed!

Well, you're an Honorary Yankee Doodle. You have to actually wear a plume to be full-on Yankee Doodle. You game for that, WryWriter?! Thanks for the nice review.

That's true, but not completely, some young man I met got very angry, and I thought was contemplating violence, but I avoided it by saying absolutely nothing, well done an excellent entry in this "old lady" poetic contest, well done, good luck, blessings.

How cute, and how Sophia Petrillo ("Golden Girls") of you. Yes, you've definitely nailed the lack of inhibition, and the "I've earned the right to say whatever I want to" attitude so many older people exhibit, and done so in perfect rhyme and a smoothly flowing poem. Good luck in the contest.

Nothing like Senior Entitlement (a/k/a lack of inhibition). I'm marking off my calendar until it becomes an entity of MINE, too!! Can't. Wait!

Thank you for your understanding review.

I've got enough gray hairs that I can probably fake it. Why wait unnecessarily? I knew there had to be a reason I was leaving my hair au natural.
