Not only does poetry matter, its vital. Thats the truth that they will whisper in your ear. The world would be a sadder place without verse...not a place I would be happy with. Then again, I'm a poet so I'm biased. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Chip Kuzborski ,
It's a lovely piece of poetry in the form of NONET meeting the desired norms, having smooth and enchanting flow throughout from the beginning to the end.
Best of Luck!

This is awesome and I like the theme that poetry is truth. It does whisper to the reader, but I never thought of describing it that way. This is a good entry for the contest and it's one of those poems that you remember :-)

Outstanding nonet, Chip. I read it a few times and enjoyed it more each time. What you say about truth in poetry strikes a chord for me right now. That's exactly how I'm experiencing it - and learning a lot about myself.

HELLO CHIP: Yes. As far as I'm concerned, poetry does matter. I have been called a poet, by readers of poetry...and by poets. I don'k know that I am a poet. But I do know that I put all of me in everything that I write. My readers say that they like what I write. My writing isn't only what I do...it is what and who I am. When my readers say that they like what I write...they're saying that they like me. Therefore I feel responsible for writing wholesome entertaining writing that my readers can enjoy...and can learn something worth knowing from what I write.
Thank you for sharing, Chip. Your work is good. You are good too. Cordially: rhonnie69.

Chip,
A very interesting look at this topic. So, you're saying that if you ASK a poet his take on the importance of poetry there's a good chance you'll just get gobble-de-gook. But if you read his poetry, you may be enlightened. Nice concept! Thanks! Good luck!

I seriously doubt my poetry matters because it is mostly silly, but the great poets through the years have had a great impact. I'm not an expert on this type of poetry, but this is well done and I do hope you do well in the contest.

Hello Poet, you've penned a nice nonet for the contest with the correct syllable count and form. You also ask a thought provoking question in your poem. I suspect you will get a variety of responses.
