Well I have a vision of you in a jazz band carefully plucking a double bass, looking like a french connoisseur and hitting some hypnotic high notes (on a double bass??!!), looking like a cool cucumber! Pity it is just a bit of fun as it has a great rhythmic quatrain to be doing groovy number too! Keep the vibe alive with your writing :)

Hi Dale :)
I used to play the cello, but never a double bass!
Thanks for the fun feedback, you always make me smile :)
Best wishes, Debra

This resurrects a REALLY old fad - as in, from the 60's. My brother looked like this and was known as a Beatnik. I'm serious; that's what they were called! (My parents were horrified and commiserated over the fact that somehow such a bizarre form of musicianship had found its way into our oh-so-square family.)

LOL! Thanks for your feedback, Rachelle :)
I never heard of a beatnik until this picture was used in the Pix This challenge group. - Kinda glad the shades and beret look has been and gone!
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

Yes, my mother's word to describe the way my brother looked was "finky." HAHAHAAHA

Yay! I'm happy to see you made it in for this post of Picture This. This is such a cute poem. An enjoyable read. You're too young to have been around then, but the '60's, especially, were an exceptional time to experience. Marilyn

Wonderful black and white artwork to adorn your fine beatnik poem. I appreciate this flashback more than most. I am the age of the ones still plucking away remaining on the planet. Sigh....
Always my best to you and yours,

Debra, this is a good interpretation for the Picture Challenge poem.
I like the lightheartedness of it - short and sweet.
At least he was plucking his bass and not picking his nose... lol.
Thank you for sharing this enjoyable read. ~DD

Even if it's just a bit of silliness, I love your little poem. It's perfect for the picture. I bet the guy is thinking just that.
Thanks so much for sharing.

I really liked this one, Debra. Your words really accented the picture. It makes me think of people sitting around, dressed in black, and snapping their fingers instead of clapping. Great job.

Debra,
What fun! I like the idea of shades and berets! I wish I'd seen that and come up with that phrase. Rats! This is just so stinking cute. Thanks for sharing!

Great rhymes and great picture. Did you pick the artwork first? It would seem so, to me, as I can't imagine how you'd dream this one up otherwise!
Good flow too. Optional suggestion (poetic license):
The latest, most-fashionable craze
Fine silliness. Made me smile.
Love,
rd
