Hey Craig
A terrific and very relevant piece to today and this volatile environment we find ourselves in.
There's some bloody loose cannons about and funnily enough, most of them are tied to fantatical religious beliefs. Which makes me wonder if being agnostic is such a bad thing. I certainly don't feel the need to preach MY ideals to everyone and then make people pay by death or dismemberment if they don't agree. These creatures are lower than pond scum and should burn to a cinder in an equivalent place to Hell. (I'm agnostic, remember? haha)
Sixer from me mate, SUCH a good write. Pace and rhyme, flawless and my fave stanza was the call for peace among all men.

You're absolutely right, Phillippa. Most of the whack-jobs seem to hold fanatical religious beliefs of one form or another, which is one reason I go a step further than you lol

Thanks for the wonderful review and shiny stars.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Hi Craig, welcome back and with such a strong message in a poem to boot! I loved this because the conviction was palpable in this write. Flawless rhythm and rhyming as well. You should have entered this is the story poem contest! It's great to have you back.

Very apt for this time of year. You have certainly conveyed the utter stupidity of war in poetic form. I also live in Australia- Tasmania so can relate. Yes it seems the 'joker' will have the final word as we continue to kill each other. Was there no picture? Well done.

I'm envious. I've been to Tasmania a number of times and, like many mainlanders, harbour dreams of moving there one day. Such a delightful place.

Thank you for the uplifting comments, and wonderful rating. Both are much appreciated. No picture this time. Cheers, Craig

I enjoyed every word in this poem, but MOST enjoyed your last lines. Everything in this world is absurd, and I guess if we're honest with ourselves, everything is an illusion. Are we led astray? Probably. I loved the strength of wording in this poem, apart from its message that conflict/war is truly the most absurd thing man has done and continues to do.

Fabulous! Hence six shiny starts a-winkin' your way xox

Excellent.
I understand your message and I know it is true, for someday soon, the end will come for me and you; and the world.
When all countries are armed with nuclear weapons, all will seek to reign, and our final battle will begin.
Not a killing Hiroshima, not a devastating Nagasaki; the end of the world. We will all be there for just a few seconds. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

That's certainly on the cards, although I think we seem to have developed countless ways to destroy ourselves and all other life. Take your pick how it will end. Thanks for the great comments and delightful rating. Craig

Excellent rhyme. I don't have any six stars left or you would get one. I am not familiar with all the Gods you mentioned, but the story in the poem is catching. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Willie, for the virtual six; most appreciated. I'm grateful for the kind comments too, and the good wishes, although this isn't a contest piece. Cheers, Craig

Hi CD, glad I had a six left otherwise I would have waited my allocation, as this poem deserves nothing less. 'yes, xenophobes were blighting Earth before God came to Bethlehem.' Yes, and nothing changes. Extremely well written and full of truths. Great ending -

but I suspect it could well be
the Jester has the final word...
for life on Earth and fantasy,
in equal measure, are absurd.... Well said. Regards Dorothy

Thank you so much for the wonderful rating and comments, Dorothy. I'm especially impressed that you had a six left at this late stage of the week. To me, that says you don't give them up easily, which makes it worth even more. Much appreciation -- Craig

There was war in Heaven. Jesus said I saw evil fall like a flash of light. Oh Cain, I hear the blood of your brother crying beneath the earth. I enjoyed you poem. Much to think about in your write. Well done.

Really nice. I especially like the final stanza,
" life on Earth and fantasy,
in equal measure, are absurd. "
It's a well balanced line.

Also, the phrase
"We kill the brave, enslave the weak,
then watch it on the nightly news."
Is super insightful.
