Never been much into guns, but guess that's how the west was won. Or, are we just speculating? Again fine. We gotta write about, what we know...or has been told.

I do so love those old western tales. Seems they have all but gone away so those willing must dig them up with their boot straps. Nicely done. This was a great read.

Well done western poem. Can you imagine living in a town like that. Sure wouldn't let my kids play in the front yard in some of those towns. But for some reason, the west drew outlaws easily.

Interesting that the outlaws somehow became heroes, but that's the way it was. Maybe it was because Billy didn't run that he became a hero. Excellent work with the rhyme and flow in this, too. judi

Great entry for the story in a poem contest, and best of luck. You have a great story about law and order in the Old West. This was a good read, Brett. I loved the story. When I first came across the name Billy, I was thinking Billy the Kid. I liked the flow of the piece and the rhyme scheme gave it a rhythm like riding a horse. Nice job.
