You've certainly given us a glimpse of the cumulative effect of daily exposure to horror, which is often the lot of the police. As you say, the effect on their well-being and on their family life can be quite devastating.

Very wonderful poetic description of the bravery and sorrow of these officers. They see so much that can't be unseen.And then evil people want to harm them. One of the best entries-best of luck in the voting.

Hi there,
It's good to see and read pieces which give due respect to the police. It's not an easy profession and they get such a bad deal in terms of press and attitude.
this flows very well and depicts things as they are.

A fine poem rhymed poem about police officers. It appears it ended up in the prose section, but that's just a glitch in the system.

I don't know if you've ever seen the show called 911 but I've found it to be amazing. They have all the seasons on Hulu if you have that. It kind of goes into this and how they have their own coping techniques even if they're not always good ones. It brings to life those and what they experience. I have cried many tears watching it.

These men and woman are sometimes misunderstood. They sacrifice life and limb many times only to be misunderstood and condemned. In every profession their are people that are good and bad. They have the same life experiences personally that many of us have. They may have an argument with a spouse or girlfriend and channel that energy the wrong way. I love what you've done with this and enjoyed reading this informative and well written offering. Very well done!

To serve and protect and die if they have too. What many sneer at is who gives them the right to walk the street and do their thing. It is sad that police officer do not always get the respect they deserve. This is a good entry for the sorrow contest.

Hello Author, I really liked your poem. I don't think that the police get enough credit for the million tiny things they do every single day... right down to just driving through your neighborhood at night to let strangers know there's a presence there. Gotta love all they do!
