Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece. I was in tears but it was from the comfort and hope brought through by this piece. Love will always help to guide us through these troubled times. Love and blessings to you.

Dear Author,
I value your well-written poem and the beauty of your thoughts and praise for all people's prayers and tributes for those who were killed. Your choice of photograph and your presentation of this tragedy is beyond 6 stars.
My best,
Deborah

You have beautifully captured the resilience, love and support that New Zealand demonstrated to the world. Such a fine example of working through tragedy. Your poem is moving, well written and seems to flow right from the heart, from a muse.

I am proud to live in NZ, the people are wonderful and our current Prime Minister is a young woman of moral substance.
Interesting you should say that about a muse directing this poem. I feel that you are right as it just flowed quite naturally out of me as I was writing it, then all I had to do was the odd tweak here and there to use a better word. There is such a feeling of compassion and love in the air here at the moment, maybe it came from that. (unfortunately possibly temporary as people have short memories)

love the great opening stanza, you make people curious to read more. A rather powerful and well written second stanza. A well written third and fourth stanza especially the latter. a well written 5th stanza, so true about revenge. a great 6th and 7th stanza, the latter is especially deep.

I really do appreciate your honoring my poem with a 6. You clearly have assessed my poem from stanza to stanza and I appreciate that.

A very well-written heartfelt poem. It doesn't matter who kills who or when and where that act of killing another is wrong and it should not be tolerated from no-one. We should feel safe wherever we practice our faith.

You are so right about being safe with our prayers, and that killing is wrong. Every religion will confirm that but others make their own interpretations, which aren't those of our heavenly father. Thank you very much for reviewing.

Hi Contest Author,

Awwww, this is such a sweet poem about such a tragic, senseless, hate mass murder. Definitely a situation that needs a silver lining. Another silver lining is that the NZ leader has the sense to ban those types of mass murder weapons. Can't say the same for the States, that's certain. Your positive thread of support versus revenge runs throughout your verse. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest. Jan

We are trying to do the right thing here in NZ. Revenge is not the way to heal.
Thanks so much for your supportive review.

A fine poem about the way the Christchurch massacre brought people of all creeds and races together in mutual support and understanding. The community response to such an event just goes to show that these evil forces can never win out against the power of love.

Amen to that. I have never understood why some people embrace the negatives and deal in death and mayhem and separatism. I feel very emotional about what happened in little backwater NZ, a mixture of sadness and pride mainly.

Very powerful. I love it. Just a few comments. Maybe if you added to the we all feel the same things, we all laugh and we cry. We all sing and we dance, we all bleed and we die. More we's for maybe a more flowing set of lines. And just a thought on the last part, load of such stresses and strife, brothers and sisters in love and in war. Thank You

Thanks for your generous review Brian. I am pleased you liked it and have considered how it could be improved... that shows you have thought about it, which I really appreciate. I have kept all the lines in the poem to 10 syllables each, so adding extras as in your suggestion would I feel not quite fit with the rest of the line rhythms.

Hi Debbie, thanks so much for honoring this poem with a 6. Maybe a tragedy can provide a big wake-up call that hate is not the path to take.
