A good connective chapter. I never had a bagel until I moved to New York in the early 1960s. And I do like authentic grits. I have time to read one more chapter tonight. I hope that Twilight will not disappear from the story. Just saying. :-)

Oh, no, Twilight belongs to Maggie... whether she realizes it or not. ;) :)

I hope that the journey that they will experience will be a thrill of a lifetime. I'm so glad that things have worked out for them...now it's to get use to the new surroundings at The Refuge.

There no need to answer all my reviews. I am catching up on this story and making a little money. The story is very interesting.

Love the large black font!

Children like to balk!

Just a general comment as I've now read at least three episodes one after the other. You use 'snort/snorted' a lot which is okay but perhaps an alternative occasionally might be good.

Just one more small thing:
Maggie could feel the excitement building inside of her again - I'd delete 'of'

Best wishes
Judy

Another word that comes up a lot is huff/huffing/huffed. Just sayin'.

I enjoyed this chapter, Yvette. So, I take it that Maggie and Addy are going to the refuge? To be with the others? I'm still learning all of your characters, there's so many, but I like your interactions. The only real critique is to put actions of characters with their dialogue.

Take care,
Russell

That is funny, making fun of grits. That is one unusual food that I like since I grew up in the south. Sounds like an excellent book. I look forward to reading more.

Very natural, well written dialogue.
I find Lars interesting, but I'm surprised he still has any clients considering the way he behaves.
Thanks for sharing.

Yay! We're back to Maggie and Addy. I can relate to these characters. And you've covered the northern prejudices about the south so well. I had to laugh at the "bagel" comment because I grew up in Hawaii and when I went to the mainland for college, a friend was shocked I didn't know what a bagel was. That was in 1976. She made me bagels!
The characters' personalities came through well in the dialogue. The only thing that I needed more visual help was when they were saying goodbye to the old gang. It felt like they were going down a reception line. Were they all gathered in the hallway?

Thank you, thank you, Helen, for being so supportive of my crazy fantasy -- my husband's family is from Michigan and I've always marveled at the jokes (that you know are rooted in 'more') that folks up there used to toss around 'for fun'! :) ;) But hey, I can joke with the best of 'em....LOL! ;) :) She was really just listing off all the folks you've already seen/heard of 'til now that they know there in New York....none of them were there at the time except Sir Ed and Scully. :) :)
You have a great week and I'm shooting for another ... different ... installment for the saga tomorrow. :) ;) Take care! :) Yvette

This chapter gets my top rating for sure. I've just out six stars is all. I love that Lars is still ranting about the South. He had to throw in the comment about the grits and the guns. The South still has some identity of its own for sure.
I'm getting attached to Addy with all of his giggling. Still hope some folks, or cats, follow Maggie to Alabama. Guess I will find out soon.

Hey there, MQ -- sorry I'm so far behind -- having trouble kicking myself in the butt and getting going! :) ;) Thanx for this -- my husband's family is from Michigan and I've always marveled at the jokes (that you know are rooted in 'more') that folks up there used to toss around 'for fun'! :) ;) But hey, I can joke with the best of 'em....LOL! ;) :) Hope the packing is still going well -- been thinking 'bout you...just get through today and I can breathe in the morning! :) :) Be sure to check in on the contests and jump in mine if you have time! :) ;) Take good care and I'll check in tomorrow -- Yvette :) ;)

Dear Y M Roger,

Well written. I like the scene in the diner where the dough is flying around. LOL Good dialogue. It seems Maggie is a take charge kind of gal. I hope that Addy does well with the move to Alabama. You have set up the reader well in terms of the obstacles and problems that Maggie will have to confront and solve.

Cheers,

Winslow
