Dear Red,

Your poetry is fine with me,
and as for Brooke, t'was always she
who gave her honest expertise
in hopes the author she would please
by offering what help she could.
If it were me, I likely would
just skip a verse I did not like.
Critique takes time; I go on strike
unless I love what I have read.
I bet that's why Brooke never fled.
:)

Best wishes,
Dawn

I seldom give anything less than a five, for if I do I write an explanation and a way to fix it, a behavior patterned after the way Brooke reviewed my work. If I can't see how to do that, I skip...thanks very much for reading and reviewing my verses,

That's the thing -- I don't support the star-rating system, and neither did Brooke, as far as I know. How can you have a system that rates something, but not require any qualification of the person doing the rating? Too, there are always those few who abuse the power, too. Nope, if something needs correction (and I'm sure) I will offer what I can and rate it the same as I would once the changes were made. Tastes should not apply either -- that's why the site provides a skip button.

Rhythm 8 count in these quatrains. Perfect rhyming scheme. The theme entertaining and funny. Love the photo. Now you have me singing in 8 syllables, "To where have all the muses gone?" Enjoyed!

Unable to move about as usual I was looking for something to write and realized this beautiful day was the anniversary of the wicked blizzard of 1993...a dark day with a full gale loaded with snow and trees breaking everywhere...thanks for reading and reviewing the verses!

Hope the moving about improves soon. Blizzards are not for man, beast, or nature's forests. They are like the devil throwing a tantrum with his heart of ice.

I love it, my friend. This is very well-written and the rhyme is fantastic. We haven't snow in our area in so long, all we get is the nasty cold rain. March ain't over yet!

Have a great day and God bless.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing and for the exceptional rating. The wind is rising and clouds rolling in, and it's still a week until the equinox....don't put your peacoat in the cleaners yet...

Nothing brings it on home like a toenail, a famous blizzard and mid-March! The photo was as rich and your poem. I keep my family's ancestry and always enjoy vintage photos. Our ancestors seemed to be much more content, living life on the front porch. I enjoyed this immensely!
All my best,
Sally :+)

My paternal grandmother had more woes than Job, and never lost her calm good nature. I get a sore toe and freak out. The gene pool is definitely degrading...thank you very much for reading my verses...

A very well-written poem about how your day was before the Ides. When I find nothing else to write about, I usually look around me until I find something to write about. What happened with the toe, should be an interesting topic too.

Looking back, I clipped it too close, and drew a speck of blood, and the toenail died. Then it refused to drop off, and was deforming the new nail growing under it, so the doc carved it out...local anesthetic applied...one of those silly useless little painful things...thanks for reading my report on March 13...

This is such a well-penned poem, my friend. I love you chosen words, they're beautifully descriptive. Enjoy your week! ~Kerry

Well maybe your toe will feel better soon as you get this all down on paper. The snows still are raging out west as we speak worst in thirty years they say.

Yeah, I was seeing that on the news, and here it was near seventy and sunny....that dead toenail has been sore for weeks, now maybe when the cuts heal I can wear shoes without cutting the end out....thanks for reading my report on mar 13....

As is your talent, Ellijay, another fantastic poem and a fitting match with a not for positive photograph from ago.

A superb poem with original imagery and voicing. I always get a charge out of your writing.

Hope your day is going well, other than that toenail of course.

Gloria

Toe may call for an Advil directly. Nice day for the anniversary of the biggest blizzard in history hereabouts. My aunt was a camera nut before WWII, and gave my mom an album, which I inherited...who are them people? Thanks for reading and reviewing.

You always find something interesting to write about, Red. I enjoyed this poem. Good job with the rhyme, the meter, and the message. Yes, I like the parts about spring even though there is a lot of snow. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Jan

Nice day here next to the 35th parallel, and my poem tells it...hard to believe there is "A winter bomb cyclone" raging across the northern states...but 1993 was hard to believe, too...24 inches of snow in my yard on tomorrow's date...thanks for reading and reviewing.

The daffodils have lost their heads
the sedges wave in graying threads.

spring slips softly on the hills.

I lovvve the above lines. You create a universe with words. Fantastic!

Well, the six makes my day, and from a reviewer whose opinions I respect...this was pretty much the way it was on my hill today, and after this date we usually have no major wintry attacks...I blundered around, killed a toenail, and the thing would not shed, so I gave up and let the doc shoot me in the toe and carve it out...it was ruining the shape of the new nail behind it...thanks immensely for reading my verses, and the sixer!
