If I had a 6, it would be yours. Congratulations on winning this contest, and the win is absolutely deserved. People sometimes do not understand the sorrow of a situation like this, I went through it also, and sometimes cuddle my belly, feeling she is still there. God bless you, dear child, sending you blessings and prayers for peace.

This is truly heart-wrenching. The grief of a mother who loses a child during delivery is indeed one of the worst forms of humans suffering ! I pray for all the mothers who have gone through this ordeal and I wish them strength.

This ultra-concise free-verse poem movingly conveys its theme of suffering
brought on by the grief of loss. I'm sure there's some technical biological explanation for phantom kicks/phantom pain, but it seems a mystery to me.

I can't imagine losing a child.
Oh, I can imagine many horrible, detestable things.
But losing a child to the cold, cruel clutches of death and claustrophobic confines of the grave isn't one I care to think too much about.
Excellent free style on human suffering, Anonymous Poet
Best of luck to you in the voting booth.
~Dean

This terrible tragedy would have to be top of the list for human suffering... to have to give birth to a dead child is heart-breaking. Then for months and months to feel that tiny life echoing with phantom kicks. You have portrayed this situation in simple, direct language, almost letting the power of the event speak for itself so it is not oversentimentalised, the tragedy stripped bare and therefore very effective.

A very well-written heartfelt and devastating feeling when a mother has to learn that her long awaited child she carried for nine months will be still born, and she has to go through the whole process.

My how hard this would have been to have a child stillborn. I can't imagine and I can't relate because it didn't happen to me. But I'm sure and have to be devastating. Words could not describe it. This was a beautiful poem I liked it a lot thank you for sharing it.

Death is a part of life but this breaks my heart, more pain than anyone should have to bare. I can only add that usually when this happens. . .it's because there is something wrong and the baby is in a better place. It just takes time to love and nurture yourself and the loss of your baby. The artwork you've chosen is perfect.

Your narrative poem evokes sympathy for the poor mother who gave birth to a stillborn son. The reader, sharing her grief, FEELS those phantom kicks. Much conveyed in only two stanzas. Rod
