Fun realistic look and the variation one can find in beaus. The confession of emotion at the start is helpful for understanding the reason for the poem. The turn at the last two lines of an invented hero makes for a complete view. Good use of rhyme and space.

Loved the puns with the names (I especially liked Herb the Botanist!) and I also like that you alliterated some of the names - always good for a fun read!
I enjoyed the Tom, Dick and Harry bit and Tim the Tailor tickled me too!
Nice concluding couplet at the end - finished it off in tongue-in-cheek style :)

It seemed that either the speaker is not taking her time to find out the pasts of these guys before she dates them. It seems the has had as many guys as these guys have had girls. The only truly right choice was leaving the abuser. Otherwise I think both sides are suffering from commitment issues.

Yes indeed, the poem does show up the modern curses of lack of research and fear of commitment, jumping from one thing to another. Abuse is not to be tolerated in any form.

I am glad your daughter found happiness.... your humor will have helped her in the lonely times. I bet that poem about the huge Ken doll was funny.
My marriage ended when I was 40; my knight in shining armour will be somewhat creaky by now. But then again, I had an aunt who married for the 2nd time at 73. I live in hope!

I had fun making up all these terrible men; I am pleased that other people are enjoying the results.
Underappreciated people usually find satisfaction elsewhere, in other areas of endeavour where they can be appreciated by like-minded people.
So you are a golfer, I gather. (a good walk spoiled... Mark Twain (?) I am working on a story at the moment with mention of golfing in it. The first time I tried golfing I hit a sheep (a very NZ hazard). And yes, it was on the fairway, not in some distant paddock in the rough.

I like the premise of this young woman, disillusioned in real life, turning to writing fiction to find the perfect man. This seems like a great story-line for a TV sit-com. Have you ever written a screen-play? Hollywood needs you! Rod
