Great choice of topic Trish for your bridge free verse with the time between conception and death being the bridge of life, the to and fro. Enjoyed your words, and what about the pictured bridge, whoa you wouldn't get me on that one.
cheers,
valda

Hi Bucket,
Ooooh - I really like this poem. And the image you've selected complements your verse absolutely perfectly. It's definitely about a journey that we cannot turn back from. Nothing I can see here to suggest improving upon in your verse; however, your visual presentation might be improved if you delete some empty, blue space from the bottom following your last stanza. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Jan

This is a very beautiful metaphor for life. I love the word undulations and the artwork you've chosen to go with your poem.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Outstanding poem, Trisha. It may be my favorite of yours. Your poem is gritty. My favorite line is that "some stay on given time." That is everyone's hope alright, and that is too short. I like the bridge concept, and I like that you start it with conception and not birth. Your photo is breathtaking. It certainly emphasizes life's ups and down and travails.
Nice job. I enjoyed it.

Comparing life to a bridge is a great analogy and you've carried the comparison through to the end. Certainly it's a one-way street - or bridge, isn't it?

This is a very well-written piece. Thought provoking, yet full of wisdom. You're so right, some are taken to soon while others stay for awhile. I believe the reason for this is that we all have a purpose and when it's fulfilled we move on to the other side. Your artwork is beautiful, perfect for your poem. I imagine going across that bridge would be breathtaking and scary.

Sometimes our lives are like covered bridges and other are like suspension bridges. Yet as we cross for time to time we can be secure in knowing that God is our bridge to Heaven

The illustration you have chosen is aesthetically pleasing and compliments your subject matter. I would consider toning down the brightness of your blue background. I see this is a piece written for a club activity. Thank you for sharing this piece.

A unique analogy as we cross the bridge of life from birth to death and the struggle and fight in between. As you say some get there too soon, best wishes, love Dolly x
