You are writing about a lot of things I can easily relate to. I used to run an assistance program for the homeless and went into shelters to acquire people to attend the two-week long seminars I was giving on Life Skills...after which I paid them $200 each as a stipend provided by a grant. I also like that you mention stray cats. :-)

Hey Yvette,
Now you've got me thinking! Perhaps these other customers in the diner are seen only to Maggie.....? Is that why Mr Bun-man hot-footed it? Is that why Lars pays them no attention? Are they ghosts?
Much enjoyed!
Best wishes, Debra :)

"Big Ed in the corner - he had so many tattoos that it was difficult to tell the actual color of his skin -" ... "The over-sized biker nodded his head at her and went back to reading his book..." An interesting character.

Definitely... the whole little 'crew' there is, yeah? :)

The story is getting exciting. I'm thinking this diner is in a bad part of the neighborhood being Eduardo walks Maggie home each night. I want to hear what happened to Maggie after her dad left her at the doorstep. She went home where Addy lives?

Lovely unfolding story. New characters are introduce d gradually and naturally. The story is unfolding bit by bit in an orderly manner. I'm hooked nicely.

Hope you're hanging on for the ride! ;)

Again nicely done, character development is smooth and natural, you seem to be setting the hooks (the questions to be answered) very skillfully. Mr. Man-buns behavior, what happened to the case worker and assistant... easy reading.

This was a interesting chapter that, after the prologue, starts to show hints of things ... :) ;) Thanx for your review and glad you're not having any trouble following... there's a large character list there! ;) :) Thanx for following Maggie and the gang! ;) ;)
Comment from Adri7enne
Moving along well. I like your characters so far....the biker who walks her home, the alcoholic bar owner, Man-buns. Easy to follow and quite entertaining. Well done, Y.

Good story Yvette. You have my attention. I wonder why you would label someone Mr. Man-bun? :) The one that arouses my interest is Mr. Ed. If only because he walks her home at night, and when asked, "Said it was his job." A protector for Marguerite. Thank you for sharing.

That's how many of my students 'talk about' or refer to people, Jose: "mister man-bun" over there or "miss can't live without my phone" or "mister skinny jeans" or, well, you get the picture - LOL! :) :) And, I have to tell you: you are definitely asking the right questions....it is a 'fantasy' book .... :) :) ;) Take care! :) Yvette

Yvette,
This is getting good - what is man-bun up to? Well, I will be tuning in to find out. Also congratulations on all the recent wins - man - you should get the most decorated winner of Fan Story - you really have a knack for writing the winning entries for a lot of the contests. I wish I could figure out a formula to win just one. It would be nice especially this month - but I don't think I have what it takes - I think that I am far out penned here. I do enjoy trying though. This story has got my wheels spinning. I am one of those sort-of psychic people. But not in the (I am going to tell you your fortune kind of way) or (that I see my own future.) It is more like a perceptual reality that when I watch or read - I see ahead in a few paces. You have got me completely stumped as to what this storm is going to drag into Maggie and Addy's life. How sinister it will be. How uplifting it might be. Whether this is a love story disguised as a whodunnit? I don't know - I am so perplexed. Whether Addy's real parent is going to surface. I can go in all different directions. But I like that you have me spinning! So thank you. I love this type of reading. Cheers, Fonda

Look at you -- all looking for stuff that may or may not or could be there!! ;) :) I'm so glad you're enjoying, Fonda -- gonna try to get on top of these papers today and post another "chapter" tonight....I actually have quite a bit written already,,,,just have to go back through and re-format and such for posting in the little-bitty bits! :) ;) Thanx so very much for your support and enthusiasm!! :) ;)
Oh, and there is no formula -- I am certainly not a trained or learned poet....just let my 'muse' take my pen -- you know, more often than I can count are the times that the final 'entry' is NOTHING like I set out to write....just gotta let go (if that makes any sense!). :) ;) Take care and have a great week ahead! :) ;) Yvette

It does and I think I am a little too OCD about my poems to let go - I think that has been my problem, I try to fix them to a grammar standard and think about the reader's perspective too much instead in a lot of instances. I might try in the coming months to really just focus on what makes me happy and what brings me joy. Then maybe I can write something uplifting enough where people might receive the work in a contest that will outshine. I am still trying to get my whole life perspective re-arranged. Maybe that is part of it as well. I am going from adolescence in writing to adulthood. I am looking forward to anything more you have out. You will always have my support and enthusiasm! You have a great week ahead too! Mine has already been extremely busy - so I look forward to some really positive things happening in the next few weeks! Cheers, Fonda
