Oh my goodness, Mark. How gruesome... when they come to take you away, will we ever be able to read poetic nonsense from Mark Valentine again???? Too funny.

Thanks. Maggie would be surprised to learn how many times she dies in my fiction writing.

Very good flash fiction. I like how nonchalantly you tell us you killed your wife. You also show this guy to be insane by the importance to him of the number of stab wounds. And his reasoning as to how it fits into fiction is the final touch. Well done! :)

Thanks - I'm not sure why, but I liked the part with the number of stab wounds also.

You are a genius lol! I'm betting your wife didn't cook the eggs the way you wanted them so this is how you let her know she didn't please you. Sunday breakfast is the highlight of the whole week. Now you'll have to cook your own breakfasts from now on. Not such a smart thing to kill her after all. Oh well. What's done is done. I hear prison food isn't made to order.

Best wishes in the contest. You crack me up.

Joy xx

Not only do I already cook my own breakfasts, I also do dinners almost always. Amazing she's stayed alive as long a she has.

Sounds like a pretty typical morning to me. You seem like a really good multi-tasker for a man. A very humorous and original flash fiction. I wish you lots of luck in the competition. Cheers. Jen

Mark, Mark, Mark... you lied about the eggs? Shame on you. Hope you cleaned the tub well and got rid of the knife. New rose bushes? Perfect. I love your sense of humor, your quick words, and how you always make me smile. Good luck in the contest. It's a winner.

What a hoot! Short and not so sweet. I appreciated the twist at the end. "I didn't really have eggs for breakfast." As if that was the lie we'd expect. NOT. Perfect. I love you humor. And all accomplished in 100 words. Good luck in the contest. Zee

A very well-written hundred word flash fiction. It is half fiction and half truth, it makes me very scared when I read so many writers plotting or had killed their partners in their stories to win a prize. Lol.

I needed a good laugh this morning, and this did it! Great work on this piece. I love the mater of fact tone you used and your confession regarding having eggs at the end. Good luck with this amazing writing; the humor is excellent!

Hi, Mark,

And here I was, thinking you really loved your wife. You wrote so many beautiful love poems to her - wait, what did she do? Did she run around? Did she hit you while you were sleeping?

Fifty-three stab wounds? Well, I hope you can get the body put away so the cops can't find her. LOL,

Thank you for sharing, and good luck in the contest,

~Mustang Patty~

It is, as they say, a thin line between love and first degree murder. Thanks for the review, Patty.
