This is a great 575 contest entry, kahpot with much significance. I enjoyed reading it. Good job on the syllable count per line. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Jan

We've had 60mph wind in December. Watch out!

I always liked to romanticize about wind saying farewell so this one spoke to me quite a bit. It's a piece that invokes strong imagery with such a simple stroke of illness. I liked the choice of the word caresses :)

Very nice 5-7-5 Kahpot... I can't believe I finally got to see something of yours... at last! Every time I've gone to see something of yours that's gone up, it's disappeared! Been removed from the site... what HAVE you been writing??? LOL

I couldn't agree more, kahpot.
When we lose someone we love dearly it tears a gaping hole in the fabric of our hearts. In other words, they take a piece of us with them when they go.
It matters not if we lose them to the cold, cruel clutches of death, or the claustrophobic confines of the grave.
Perhaps they simply decide one day to walk away--out of our lives for good--without ever looking back.
Like any rip or tear in most fabrics, the hole can and will be mended in time--if the seamstress is skilled enough.
Still, no matter how skilled the seamstress, the evidence that a hole was once there lingers on forever.
I think lost love is a lot like that in many respects.
Best wishes to you in the contest.
~Dean

Wow! I am honored my 17 syllables extend my feelings so clear to someone else, I do believe the seamstress is very skilled, the tear/hole may not be amended in its entirety, though every stitch is a comfort, many thanks, ps. I had a crack at a Sonett and after a few re-writes would love your comments, "leaving"****kahpot

Pretty much what happens. But it is all in how you put it together. I particularly like...As they wave farewell. Creative thinking of trees waving farewell to the passing wind.

A very beautiful 5-7-5. You have expressed a clear meaning and image with such little space to do so, and it has worked wonderfully. I am sorry for the loss of your friends.

I like the metaphoric implication here. We reach out and are touched by some people who pass through our lives. Sadly they move on, leaving us with just the gentle caress of happy memories.

This is a very touching poem. It feels like a gentle wind here on FanStory. It is so wonderful that you were inspired by my namesake, Sandra du Plessis.

All the best in the contest.

Now here is a wonderful 5-7-5. The title alone is enticing for a reader. The touch of a gentle breeze on one's face is beyond description burt you relate to one very well in this poetry, my friend. Bob

Lovely..a few simple words, a sweet image made me feel good about life..does that make sense? There is something calming about the wind, it centers you and brings a feeling of peace..at least for me. Thanks for sharing.
