Well, that was a mighty twist in the tale. Just goes to show, sometimes things aren't what they seem ... this is so well written, with the ending well-disguised. I really thought they were two helpless victims.

BAVO!!! Wow what a great read I hung on every word this is a six star piece but alas I have none left. This was so well done and caught me totally off guard. You use of mood and scene were captivating some of the best work I have read on this site. Thank you for posting something so pleasurable to read it was truly a gift not everything here is.

Great first line. It made me worry about the plight of these two women. Their family was brutally murdered, and they were now all alone in the world. How will they survive? You described Katya as a bit fragile, and I believed that right up until the moment she smashed the woman in the head with a piece of wood.
Good writing. You tricked this reader into caring about the wrong people. Well done.

Oh, land's sake!! This roared off the page and grabbed me by the throat...thankfully only the cats have fangs. What a shock...I was rooting for these girls until the firewood thing. Never saw this coming in a million years, which, to me, is a great story. I write a lot and can guess most plots - but you slammed me with a literary piece of firewood! Love vampire stories and sneak plots. Didn't want to review stories because am ADD - but this sure changed my mind.

You might want to consider putting some notes explaining the plot. I got confused toward the end when the girls talking about feeding on the people. Is this a chapter in a book, or was this it?

Hello Luminae!
Oh my goodness! This is horribly wonderful! Of course, I suspected the stereotypical slant of the poor girls...running through the woods and finding safety, etc... Never thinking that they could be the perpetrators of any crimes themselves. Loved it! Face-paced. Excellent dialogue and setting. Just long enough to hold a reader's attention. Bravo!

This is an excellent story. It got my attention from the very beginning and the ending was a complete surprise. Just when I was in complete empathy with the two young girls, your turned the table on me.
Your writing is engaging and flows well.

I really enjoyed this story. I was not expecting this outcome. Is this part of a larger work or a stand alone story? I only noticed one small thing for your consideration.

"A'right," the lady of the house said, "Guess you girls better come on in. -- I'd recommend a lower case guess because you sentence continues.

Take care,
Russell
