A most delightful fantasy story. Imagine painting a merman and being pulled through the picture to his fantasy world. A giant squid is the point of evil. I hope you continue to write of these characters. You have already pointed out you don't think you have seen the last of the squid. Nice. Very nice. Good job.

If only I had read this on Sunday morning. This is amazing! I love the imagination and your world. I would like a merman of my own! I also found something extremely fascinating! My ex (whom I loved and adored) and who was a true artist had an idea that if he could perfect something artistically it would come to life. So when I read this I immediately came to the thought of his world and the concepts he had instilled into me at a young age that maybe the perfectionism that you have found in your mind has made this world possible. If only I had read this on Sunday morning. This is amazing! I love the imagination and your world. I would like a merman of my own! I also found something extremely fascinating! My ex (whom I loved and adored) and who was a true artist had an idea that if he could perfect something artistically it would come to life. So when I read this I immediately came to the thought of his world and the concepts he had instilled into me at a young age that maybe the perfectionism that you have found in your mind has made this world possible. Interesting and arresting. I would be scared to fall into my art. So this is cool. But what if your Merman needed your art to withdraw ...pun intended...from the kraken. You left to paint him out of the scene...and it looked like you would be too late as the tentacle whipped into your earth life. Suddenly it looms over you...somehow kraken is here . Earth is doomed. How could a dashing dachshund riding merman save the day? Hmmmm

My only suggestion is the ending could be a little different. Instead of, 'I spend more time with my merman..' maybe something like, 'I stay a while longer..' Over all well done and I wish you well in the contest.
