Sally, did you have shingles? I've had shingles and still have the aches. A horrible disease! Shingles can be so irritable, hurt so much. I love the idea that you put the ideas or symptoms in to a love letter. A husband or a wife must have patience if they have this horrible itchy, irritable disease.

Yes, I did and this is me. Jackson is my sweetheart husband who wrote me those letters and took such good care of me. I still have shingles but not as severe, and nerve damage across my back. I live on antivirals! Thank you for enjoying my older works and for a sixer! You are my portfolio angel of glad tidings. Bless you!

Dear Mystery Author,

First of all, bless your poor, poor heart! I have friends who have had to deal with shingles and it appears to be a horrible, horrible few days or weeks that I wouldn't wish on an enemy. I hope you heal sooooon!

But those letters are PRECIOUS! I think most women pray for such a loving and demonstrative hubby. *smile* Lucky you, found yourself one! Take good care of him, for sure! Thanks and good luck!

I was wondering what kind of love story this would be when the first word I read was shingles....you made it a wonderful love story. How blessed you and your husband are to have each other. The relationship seems similar to that of my mom and dad, God rest their souls. Write On!

There are requirements for length. Minimum length 700 words. Maximum Length 7,000 words, say the contest rules. You will need a couple hundred words, I'm afraid. Good luck.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I should have checked the word count more closely. I am a blind writer and must have missed this important bit of information.
    All my best,

Wow, what a sweetheart. You got a gem there. Not many young men today know the real meaning of love, it means even in the hard times. Too many are too impatient and don't want to put up with anything hard. The women are as bad. Many not making it to the 1st anv. So very sad. I'm glad you have a sweetie to care for you. I know you do the same for him. A great story with a happy ending. Hope you do well in the contest, Rox

This is a very romantic sweet story. Lucky you are to have a husband so caring, I'm sure he is for a reason, you must be a good wife to him. I had shingles one time in my late thirties, it was a horrible experience. It felt like hot pokers moving in and out of my torso twenty four seven, I had fevers and fatigue, and I think it took about three months to fully recover. I have what's called post herpetic neuralgia which is like a aftermath of shingles. I get like burning and itching sensations along my rib cage part of my torso from time to time, and when that occurs I always think I'm getting shingles again. Thank God I have not had another case since. The letters from your husband were very heartwarming. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you so much for your excellent review and kind comments. I, too, have itching when there is nothing there. I take natural anti-virals and try to eat well. My doctor said it?s nerve damage from the shingles. I am glad you enjoyed my love letter story.

This is a beautifully heartwarming story. Your husband clearly showed his love and devotion to you when you most needed his care and encouragement, and his daily love notes to you are a tangible remembrance of that time. It is most fitting that you illustrated this post with a photo of that lovely gardenia he planted. He's certainly a "keeper" and a blessing in your life. Superb.
