Hi Craig (if that's your real name). I knew of the first two but not the third. It makes sense for a woman to write under a male name. Harder to get away with now in the days of the internet though. Is there a glass ceiling for women writers? Probably! This is excellent. Marilyn

Thanks very much, Marilyn. My real name? I'm surprised you even need to ask. Imagine someone on the internet not being who they claim! For the record, yes, it's really Craig. At least that's what my parents used to call me :)

!!! Good one!!!

I Should Change My Name

I really wish I'd thought of this,
'cause everyone's a critic.
I swear I wouldn't mind at all
if they were analytic,

but each of them can barely
carry on a conversation,
and while I'm not an intellect,
my book is a sensation.

:))

I would give you a six for that effort if I could! I must finish reading your book so I can leave a review. I got half way, then other things interrupted, and I haven't managed to get back to it since.

Many thanks for the fun review, and the wonderful, shiny stars :)

    Cheers, Craig

Oh? Which book? (I'm so excited!) *grin* (But I do wish I'd thought of changing my name.) :0) I'm glad you're pleased, Joan. (*snicker*)

Ha!

A fun tease through this poem to highlight the word of the day in a tongue and cheek way.

You did really well with leading curiosity along with hints and dangling ... I think the word I'm looking for is drama? conspiracy? to then play with women who've opted to take male pen names. I wonder how many men take women pen names? Probably not as many, at least not back in the day.

Maybe moreso in the future?

Either way, this entertained and brought to attention that there's a word for it.

I've been considering pseudandry for myself... if I ever finish a work to publish under any name.

What happened to Betrayal? (That was the title of the Warring Heavens book, wasn't it?) I'd have thought that was pretty close to ready to go. Anyway, thanks, Turtle, for the great review. Cheers, Craig

Hi Craig or is it Joan? LOL. I loved this poem about women using male pseudonyms. You have composed a wonderful poem around toady's word. What a talent you've got. I have no six. I can add to the list of famous authors who've done that. Karen Blixen wrote at times using the names Isak Dinesen and Pierre Andrezel. Kind regards. Ulla:))

I'm being Frank today, Ulla. Thank you for the lovely comments, the virtual six, and for adding to my education about pseudantarian writers. Cheers, Craig

You did an awesome job using this word in your poem, Craig. I like everything about it. Your lines flow well, the rhymes are super, the picture is a good pairing with your words, and the message is loud and clear. When do we start referring to you as Joan. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Haha, hopefully never, Jan, though I realised I could be making life difficult for myself when I wrote it :) Many thanks for the super review. Craig

Lol! Oh this is fun, "Joan!" I am now curious if there were any male writers who wrote under a female name. And yes, there are! So you're not the only one. ð???

A very well-written poem about the using of a pen name that is across gender specifically when a woman write under a male penname. It must be a big surprise for the fans to find out their male author is a female in real life.

Aha! I knew it. What a cute poem, Craig and there was a time when females weren't really allowed to participate in writing with any degree of sincerity, then there's the Stephen King/Richard Bachman thang to prove that name recognition is a thang.

Excellent post friend and I shall hence to forward look for telltale signs. :)

Thanks so much, Gloria. Yes, it's a practice that's been around a long time. I think it even goes back to before Wilhelmina Shakespeare :) Cheers, Craig

Well Joan, you made me laugh with this clever, fun and very entertaining poem! I had no idea that these female authors adopted a male pseudonym, though I get why they would do it. Perfect pairing of image and poem, and I love the playfulness of this write!

Great job, Craig!

Cheers,
Connie

Really, Joan! You should have told me long before now. I shall make a note of it, Joan. Your reveal was the best that I have ever read. Now you shall be known as Joan, as you long for.
When I use a word three times, I usually remember it, Joan. Okay four times should definitely do it.
