What a curious poem? I read and read it again, then reminded myself that it's been a while since I read any of Bill's writing. Once again, I'm reminded that you work always has something unique to discover. True, Bill.

It's not easy, Bill, but it's what I want to do.

This is a very cute and well written poem about Katie's bears. You used very good descriptive words and a solution to taking care of the bears. My favorite stanza was this one:
"Please find a tub for Katie's bears,"
asked my wife as I hung garland.
"They've got a house, and the bears are theirs."
"No argument here, Darlin'"
Blessings, Teri

Hi Bill. This poem is amusing and charming. I like your effort to get rid of all the bears, at least temporarily, and found a good solution. I have no idea what this means (the reefer box filled). The only reefer I know of is a marijuana cigarette, hopefully not found in a child's room. Anyway, a well rhymed and fun poem. Marilyn

Reefer is slang for refrigerator. ?REEFERgerator?.

Hi Bill. OK. I learned something. Never heard that before. I thought it may have been a typo or a word I didn't know. Marilyn

I have taken all my children's bears and added my collections, and I have put red bows on them or red and green embellishments and made them Christmas bears. I will charge you absolutely nothing for this wonderful advice and save you lots of room at Christmas time. I hope you have a wonderful and blessed holiday with Katie's bears, of course.

Following the wife's orders during general cleanup discloses one unescapable fact. You are never done. No matter how hard you work to do things to her satisfaction, it will never be as good as it would have been if she had done it herself. Careful, never, ever suggest that she herself should have done it. This line of thought is dangerous even if unspoken. If you are bold enough to actually speak it, you had better be prepared to duck.

I enjoyed your fun poem, Bill. Good job with the rhymes. I like the solution until you mentioned more bears. The picture is a great pairing with your words. Seems like the bears won this challenge. Thanks for sharing. Jan

I've found that there's never room for all the stuff you accumulate. I think the teddy bears would be charming, though. Maybe Katie could be persuaded to donate some of her stuffed bear horde to some charity. Tell her how good she'll feel knowing some deserving child has a teddy bear. A fridge/freezer box would be pretty big, so that must be some collection. Excellent rhyme and flow, and a humorous commentary on human nature and how we manage to acquire more than we have room for.

Refrigerator boxes are for only two things...wrapping refrigerators or surviving on the streets. Otherwise one has a huge, heavy box full of stuff.

How adorable! I have a soon to be ten year old granddaughter who has been collecting "Teddy Bears" since birth and refuses to relinquish a single one...each has a name and she has a memory affixed to every one! My daughter has tried "pet nets"--multiple shelves--totes--even a huge box (though not a reefer one!)---still, each night Emy patiently gathers the humungous pile of "love" onto her bed and snuggles beneath her Teddy "fort"--- Each time her parents lament the clutter I remind them of how quickly she is growing and with what longing they will wish she were still young enough to find such joy in their little home...

Exactly. I actually have no desire to move the bears, but they are everywhere.

I will be 65 in a matter of weeks and still have the teddy bear my grandmom gave me on my third birthday...one of my most prized possessions!--Karenina

Now Bill, no self respecting child of any age has less than 50-100 of soft fluffy toys and bears. I take it Katie is a grand daughter,so you as a doting grandpapa must do all you can to ensure each and every one of them is cared for and housed adequately
Mind you that's one mother of a big box. She is a very lucky little girl to have so many teddys and other fluffy friends. The poem expresses the dutiful note of an obedient husband responding automatically to his wife's direction (Is command too strong a word here?). The bears filled the huge box and when he looked inside the little girl's room there were other boxes filled with more of the same. Goodness me! It's a real avalanche of fur babies. cheers Cass

Katie is my daughter. She moved out five years ago to get married. She has a big house, but has no desire for having the bears there. I personally like them, as they remind me of my princess, but they are everywhere.
