Hi Craig. I wonder about the origin of arcto. . Phile is a coveter so it makes sense that a collector would covet the item. Of course, who doesn't like teddy bears? Argos is Greek for bear. Makes sense. Philos means loving. I'd collect stuffed spider monkeys if there were no stuffed bears. Thank you for sharing

Hi Pam,

Apparently, Arktos (according to my book) is another form of the Greek word for bear (very similar to what you said), so that seems to be where it comes from. Many thanks for the great review. Craig

Lol. Now this is one I did write about back in August. Good old Teddy Roosevelt and the Greek word for bear have given us such a well loved stuffed toy that is enjoyed by all ages!

Very nice, Marilyn. I wish I'd hung on to the teddy bear I had as a child. By the time he'd gone (to where, I have no idea), he was very much the worse for wear. Cheers, Craig

I just happen to think it's a stroke of genius to name all your stuffed bears, Ted. It saves a lot of memorization or worse yet, name tags. When one finds a perfectly good name it should be used frequently and often too.

A very well-written Limerick. The collector of teddy bears is called an arctophile, a very interesting collector name. A teddy bear is a great toy for a baby boy not as fragile as a girlie doll.
