These few words do say a lot about both rock guitarists' styles of
playing. It is a good choice of artwork. I like the info in the author's
notes.
Congrats on the honorable mention in the contest.
Keep writing.

THANKS dragonpoet for your compliments. And, I will still keep writing my typical 5-7-5s (-:

I learned a lot about the whammy bar and the musicians using the same in composing my notes and verse.

Don't mention it, Mark. It is always good to learn something new.

More factoids: Jimi's hands were so large he barred chords using his thumb. He also kept narco in his bandana so it will seep in through his sweat pores during performances. He was also one of the Plaster Caster volunteers. Eddie performed for a while with his back towards the audience to hide his technique. He originally was not the guitarist as Alex VH started off as such.

Oh, brilliant write by the way

Thanks for those factoids! The drugs was a known fact. Amusing matter about his plastic cast!

    THANKS for your support for my (previous) contest entry. My style is 5-7-5, but I aspire to write in the more traditional Haiku form. It is more difficult for sure than just stringing along 17 syllables in three lines (-;

I am pleased your ensemble was well received in the contest. I could hear the musicians energy. Thanks for defining "whammy" in your notes, which added to my enjoyment of the 5-7-5. Well done- Joan

    Thanks Joan!

It was listed when the contest first started. I am certainly pleased with earning the FS dollars to boost future non-entry verses. Glad you liked my contest ensemble.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Both guys sing from the depths of their souls, and under the influence of the herbs of the earth, they take you to a deeper dimension with sounds that canot be duplicated! Yeah those were real artists.

Two very talented musicians with polar opposite styles. One of the great things about music is its endless variety. There is something for everyone and every circumstance.

    Thomas Thanks!

But both could really strum those strings. Someone also commented to me that Prince was also a great guitar player. And yes, music has an endless variety - in all genres - and appeals to everyone at different levels of their musical appreciation.

Yes, I agree that they were two of the greatest guitarists of all time, and your poem definitely elaborates on their guitar skills.

Also, I must add Prince as one of the greatest guitarist. After his death, I discovered he was underrated as a guitarist.

Great poem and subject.

Good luck in the contest.

    Poetic friend,

Thanks for your generous commentary and rating. I can string along with your electric thoughts, but Hendrix is more era. Van Halen has had a rough life recently. Unfortunately, all three had drug abuse issues. What would their music been like without that background? Better or worse?

Yes, sadly, all three had drug abuse issues. If your time permits, please watch the video where Prince performs with Tom Petty, Steve Winwood and others. Perhaps you saw the video already.

    Yo Friend!

Thanks for that tip to the "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" clip - very powerful. Maybe that tribute concert title can become the subject, or title, for the next Haiku verse you (or I!) create. (-:

    You are welcome, Mark.

You may write that haiku because I am rarely on the site.

I had extra time today because I am off work due to Veterans Day.
