Yes, if the soldiers of the first world war had known how brief the so called peace would be, you wonder if they would have rushed in for King and country.
eirenicon - it's quite a complicated word both in sounding and description.
cheers,
valda

How delightful is your innovative approach to armistice, Craig? We can't really say "fighting" is in our DNA because all living things have it, so I'm thinking aggression, like ebb and flow is more of a mathematical equation.

That said, I wonder what book you're gonna get for Christmas this year to write a poem a day about next year? haha. Sorry for being a little sadistic there. LOL. Not really.

Great job with this delight.

Gloria

I'm hoping it's a picture book... just pictures. Many thanks, Gloria :) Cheers, Craig

Sheesh ... you're going to make a smart person out of me yet. You added two new words to my vocabulary today with your excellent poem, Craig. "eirenicon" and "vitriolic" (I had to look it up).

This is an excellent poem for Armistace day (Remembrance Day). I wish that everyone extended and accepted an "olive branch" and that wars would be a thing of the past. Wishful thinking, huh? "running out of juice" and "soldier on" ... luv it! Lovely presentation!

Cheers,
Connie

Hi, Craig,

The olive branch is accepted with love and charity. You and I may not agree on all things, but I think your poetry is lovely, and you've done an amazing job this year in your quest to write a poem featuring your new word of the day.

If only the rest of the world could put aside their differences,

Differences are what adds colour to the world. I think it's when people want to get rid of differences (i.e. everybody must be just like me) the trouble starts. Many thanks, Patty :) Cheers,

Hi, Craig.

Nice job with this poem. Strong flow, rhyme, and presentation, but the theme was also touching a deep root in the current tone of today. There's no break. The fires of dogma and rhetoric, semantics and general human decency-lacking flame on every time a screen turns on, it seems. And it seems to light all it touches, to the point of holy crap... uncle bob just jumped the table to punch cousin Fred over ... what's the current topic everyone's fighting over today?

At some point, all this demonizing and explosion of reducing others over every disagreement, and being bombarded with brain-exploding behavior that others shrug and say, nothing wrong to see here ... it's not only exhausting, but we forget how to interact with each other any other way.

The last line is apt, this flaw in humanity ... whatever it stems from ... unreasonable reasoning? Taking a discussion to ten? and interjecting poo? I don't know.

I spent an hour I didn't have yesterday straight arguing with my brother over the semantics of if or if not some stupid video footage was altered or naturally occurring in the Giffing process. Wtf is wrong with us?

Nice job with this poem.

Haha, no doubt, if there was an extended period of agreement, we'd have to be arguing about the cause of there being no disagreements for a while. Many thanks for the delightful rating and the great comments, Turtle. Your words are always much appreciated. Craig

Another one of your beautiful poems and another new word. It's not just your skills at writing poems. It's also the fact that you can use the words you choose effortlessly.

A very well-written poem about the remembrance of a war that ended hundred years ago and yet no real peace was found and it seems everyone had forget the pain and distress of war.

Thanks very much, Sandra. If only "the war to end all wars" had done just that. Many thanks, Craig

That's what it's all about. Allowing everyone to have their POV without rancor. If we can carry on for one day, is it possible to carry on for many days? I hope so. Marilyn

You are always right on the mark. I still find so much humor in your writings. Love your vocabulary, and the way you put it all together. I've always admired the idea of temporary peace treaties.

Thank you once again. I guess a permanent peace treaty is way out of the question, so temporary would be better than nothing. Most grateful, Craig

Very astute poem using this cool word. I recognize the Greek word for peace - ereine. And you're right that it's never a true peace. Like the WW1 truce in Christmas Day.
