Not a lot of schmaltz in this love poem, but a lot of heart.
When it's over, our last laugh
will be our shared epitaph
I love those lines and the epitaph. Good one Craig,
cheers,
valda

Hi, Craig,

Great picture and a lovely poem to emphasize how we never know which road will take us to the intersection with the person who will change our life forever.

I know I'm constantly thankful for my girlfriend and I decided to go out one Friday night and I met a handsome sailor. That was over thirty-five years ago and I can't even imagine a life without him,

~MP~

That's a great story, Patty. A sailor eh? Seems you like to get nautical. Many thanks for the fine review. Craig

I really enjoyed this cheery poem, Craig. One does have to wonder sometimes if meetings are simply luck or are they fate. Oft times it does seem that they are far more than just coincidence, and one has to wonder what forces were at work to make the lives decussate. Your poem really conveys the meaning of the word 'decussate' well. Perfect pairing of picture and poem. Great job!

Cheers,
Conie

Hi, Craig,

Really enjoyed the snappy pace and pleasing rhymes of this love poem, as well as exposure to a word that I've not seen before. Kind of has an amusing ring to it if you don't know what it means.

Just decussate on the line, please.

Don't forget to decussate your calendars this year.

I like your use of it, as things done on the scale of lives crossing seem more meaningful, and it gives the word a nice foundation for memory.

Nicely done.

    Hi Turtle,

Great to hear from you again, hope life is treating you kindly.

Thanks once more for a terrific review and wonderful rating.

Decussating on something just sounds wrong to my ears, and probably messy!

Most grateful, have a wonderful weekend :)

Thanks, Craig, I'm going to try, seems like no matter what I do, there isn't enough time in the day.

Hi Craig. I wonder why anyone felt the need to invent a word for make an x that is longer than saying make an x. That seems silly. I wonder if it was only for people who signed their names with x. I enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing

Thanks very much, Pam. That's a bit like asking why abbreviation is such a long word :) Cheers, Craig

You did a great job, Craig, with your poem for the word decussate. Your picture choice is perfect for your words. The words/line read smoothly. I really like the meter you used here. The short lines flow smoothly at a quick pace and add emphasis to each line. Your poem says so much about how that word played out in the lives of the 2 in the poem also. Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

So they hung Christ on a decussated tree...and the gangster snarls, "You double decussating rat!" Me, I enjoy new words...looks like an excellent post to me.

And if that double decussating rat hadn't done what he did, it would have all fallen flat. Never got that. Thanks heaps for the great review :) Craig

This is well written and on a timely topic. I think due to lack of willingness (hard work) some relationships will/do end. Decussate is a good word for it. X marks the spot. Marilyn

Sadly, more do than not, Marilyn. 'Tis the nature of the beast, I think. Many thanks, Craig

What an interesting word because most of the crossing words I know would either have "crux, cruc" or "sect" if division is the focus. But this word comes from a Roman "ten asses" coin. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/decussate

I like that your poem uses a more relational use of the word and not the literal intersecting.

Thanks so much for the great review, Helen. I think I get the connection - if someone calls me an ass, I get cross ;-) Cheers, Craig

Hi Craig, now you've written a free verse poem, incorporating the day's word and yet again, you've succeeded to write a lovely poem. I really enjoy following along. All the best. Ulla:))
