That was a heart warming and not unexpected chapter. I think we all could guess her toad of a husband would be the one who did her in.

I'm glad her son turned out so well and that the toad didn't kill him as well.

What a comic touch, having Veronica show up in her nightgown. :-)

Even though I am coming in on chapter 11, I can tell this is a well thought out story and fleshed out characters. I am intrigued by the possibility of someone having passed on vs. time travel. The injection of humor with the leering male ghost was quite welcome. I definitely would like to read the previous chapters. This is the kind of writing I aspire to achieve.

So Charles killed Gladys, but he didn't use his fists to beat her to death. I want to hear Gladys story about how her abusive husband got away with murder. Also Veronica sees ghosts, but she is not dead. I can't wait to see Gladys' reaction to hearing that. These two ladies have a lot of explaining to do.
Great chapter. Never a dull moment.

No, it's not a weigh station, it's all part of Veronica and Mildred's fact finding mission before they discover what their assignment is. I loved this chapter. I am quite new to this wonderful site, and, to be honest, this is the first chapter (end of chapter 11) of this book that I have read. I want to go back and start from the beginning. I really enjoy your writing! I do not have to stumble over words, phrases, grammar or punctuation. Just a smooth flow where I was wrapped up into the story.
