This limerick, My Hat, has the basic format and asks for a little respect for the man's topper. I think the beat would be well served by eliminating the word bald. That extra syllable tips the lid a bit to the left.

I wonder what four-and-nine stands for? Cheap hats are the best though and you don't have to worry about hat hair which always looks incredibly awkward.

We have the $2 Shop, which I'm guessing is the same concept? Although it's long ago, if ever, that everything in there was $2 or less. My favourite hat was picked up at a Salvation Army Op Shop. Many thanks, Gloria :)

What a fun phrase, 'four-and-nine!' We have a phrase for cheap stores 'five and dime' store so a 'four-and-nine' must be a penny cheaper. These days, we have the Dollar Store which probably won't last due to our current relationship with just about all the cheap-manufacturing countries.

Great write. I enjoyed reading your limerick. My son shaves his head but has grown a big, bushy beard instead. Not my cup of tea, but it's his face. Four and nine... a good term for cheap goods. Marilyn

A very well-written Limerick about the needed hat in the hot summer sun. It is a better idea to put on a hat than to get your brains fried and your head skin burn red from the son.

instead of is?
Other than that quick thought, the limerick has a playful appreciation for apparel that might not be fancy or expensive, but sits atop the head and gets the job done to satisfaction, plus affinity.

"Really good, amazing...", so I hope you don't mind if I ask if you really mean to grade it 4 stars? I only ask because 4 stars is meant to be for work that requires corrections. If you did, fair enough, but sometimes people accidentally pick the wrong option from the drop down. Your comments make me think you judged it better than that.
