Your line that really stands out for me is
the voice of hate and fear is loud
and, unfortunately throughout history that's proven to be the case, so panshite continues. Good one Craig,
cheers,
valda

This limerick-structured poem, Panshite, captures the current knee-jerk reactionary hysteria that has grabbed a hold of our society and turned mistakes into career ending crimes.

Some careers should have ended before they began. I remember reading a book called the Peter Principle in school, which described people who end up doing work they're totally inept at... something which I think describes a great many politicians and public figures. Sadly, I don't think it's in print any more.

Despite all of the hate talk and alarming panshite, I have to hope and believe more people are tolerant and united than are extremist and racists. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and my family still lives there. I am sad for my country that other parts of the world are seeing this ugly faction of our population. As always, Craig, you rise up to the challenge of incorporating your new word into an appropriate piece.

It's getting harder to believe every day, Linda. Today on the news here, it was revealed that 15 members of the junior branch of one of the conservative parties had resigned before being thrown out, due to it being discovered they had expressed highly extremist views in their online presences. Eventually, maybe they won't be ejected, it's just a matter of numbers. Thanks for the kind comments, and let's hope the world sees sense before things get a whole lot worse. Cheers, Craig

Okay, this is a word I have to remember! Luv it ... "panshite"! I'll just have to think of a pan full of s**t. You know I've started a list of the words that you are teaching me, Craig, because I know I won't remember them off the top of my head.

You've conveyed the meaning of 'panshite' perfectly in this poem. Perfect pairing of picture and poem too. Great job, Craig!

Cheers,
Connie

This would be a good word to start off with, Connie. I can't wait to work it into casual conversation. Thanks so much for the great review, Craig

So right, Craig. Trump is full of bull-shite that stinks to high heaven. I feel so badly for minorities in this country. I am so ashamed of this country. His approval rating is still forty present. Imagine how many racists that includes. I feel that if you vote for him, you are a racist. You are enabling racism. Thank you for sharing

There are racists everywhere, Pam. It's certainly not a lot better here, in places. Many thanks for the lovely review. Craig

What a timely commentary on the conditions of the world we live in today. Hate and fear are indeed everywhere. It is more than frightening because it seems to get worse daily. Where will mankind be in the future? "panshite" could become part of the new dictionary. Very thought-provoking. Blessings to you, Linda

Hear, hear, Craig. It always fascinates me how knowledgeable you are about American politics. You are right on top of things. Did you have to search for panshite, or did it serendipitously appear? It even sounds Jewish.

I'm having trouble understanding the human race lately. As you so aptly put it, let's hope the panshite doesn't last.

Well, it's not just about American politics, Debbie. There's no shortage of lemmings around the globe willing to follow in the footsteps of big brother. Which, of course, is why the world *must* take an interest. Panshite is my "word of the day" from my book; I just didn't want to detract from the message of this particular poem by putting that extra stuff in. I smiled when you said it sounds Jewish... exactly the same thought occurred to me, although it apparently is of Scottish origin. Many thanks, Craig

    Sounds Scottish, too.

Sadly we are living in a time when people are willing to submit to totalitarian rule. They are being lied into believing it is about freedom, but it is in fact the opposite of freedom and that is the reason why no one has a vision of what "it" looks like once this "revolution" is done.

That said, what an apt name for it, panshite.

A timely and appropriate post and a pleasure to read and review. :)

What a strong and well-done poem. You word this in such a way that each and every individual word counts, and helps to make your point. Your meter and rhyme work well, and I appreciate that you introduced me to a new word: "panshite."

I'm afraid the "panshite" probably won't die down until people choose to unify to do good and choose peace and community over the partisan lines drawn. Good use of the word in your thought-provoking poem.

And how many more Pittsburghs and Charlottesvilles will it take until that happens? That's the question I'm sure a lot of people want answers to. Thanks, Helen.
