Shana seems to be getting log nicely with Drew's mother. I like how she is relaxed enough to help look for a shelf. Obviously soap operas are NOT the best introduction for someone that never watched television before. My mother was hooked on them, I hated them. Nice work with this chapter.

Hi, Barbara,

Hmm. I wonder what it is that Susan said to her son. Could he have told her he is all wrong about Shana? Or, has she encouraged him about Shana?

Well done as usual, and I loved the photo of the German Shepherd.

This is a fine chapter segment. The pacing and dialog are, as usual, quite good. Fine descriptive detail, though I was waiting for some more action or something more substantial to occur, and then the ending had more drama. I'm also fatigued after a surgery so that might be the reason!) I am aware it is only a partial chapter. Good sentence mechanics. Did not notice any spag.

Even though not reading all chapters, I'm able to visit and still know the characters and basic plot...so that's a good sign!

Warmly,
rd

A very well written chapter. I would have liked to see more setting details though. Some more descriptive words could really help set the stage to draw the reader into the scene. Thank you so much for sharing and happy writing!

I don't like reading descriptive words, so I don't write them. When I'm reviewing, I actually skip over the descriptions. Thank you for the kind review.

Excellent chapter, Barbara. I'm so happy to see Shana "coming to life" in the company of Susan. The two seem to get along like a house on fire as they say. Shana apparently has good taste in furnishings.

Also, the picture of the dog was a nice touch, I thought. It pulled me in.

I like the way you use the discussion between Shana and her mother-in-law as they look at redecoration ideas, not only to develop their characters but to shine a bit of a spotlight on Anderson's character too.

Yes, very nice. Not a real fast paced read but every chapter doesn't have to be action-packed. Susan is going to teach Shana how to spend money. That's a good way to keep her occupied and relaxed. Lol! Smart of Drew to let his mom do part of the convincing. Nice family.

Hi there,

Good continuation once again. I wonder what they were chatting about myself, and it seems Shana and 'mummy' are getting on fine...

She pointed to a hutch - is hutch right here? it may well be but I thought of something to do with small animals as opposed to the front of a building.

. "I wonder what they're discussing. It looks serious. Susan's doing most of the talking. Drew's listening. It's really none of my business - you open marks here which you don't close. I don't think you need them though for the thought.

Jeff asked, "By your face, I'd say Susan had one of those talks only a mother could get away with." - I'd change the speech tag here as he doesn't actually ask anything.

I have made the changes. Thank you for the help. In the US a hutch can be for a small animal such as a rabbit, but it can also be 'a cabinet with open shelves, designed to rest upon a low cupboard, dresser, etc' I have a hutch in the dinning room and I keep my China in it.

Oh this is interesting, the beginning of Drew's attitude change. I wonder what that means exactly, as I assume that it has to do with Shana. I grew up without a TV as well, but managed to watch shows at my friend's house. We read a lot in our house, which I think is great. When I saw the picture accompanying your chapter, I had to read it right away. For some reason was worried something had happened to one of the dogs - but I'm guessing you will keep them safe :)))

I haven't met all the characters yet but from looking at your list of characters, it intrigues me to want to read more. I didn't get much information from this section except that it looks like Susan had something difficult to talk to her son about and that Shana is helping her find the perfect shelf for her entry. Actually, I like the fact that you chose to have something lighthearted going on with the decorating with the undertones of something more serious in the air. I look forward to reading more of this story.
