A great use of the word cornerstone, Craig, as the stable foundation that, as in a building, is needed, in this case to hold the love strong.
I do like what you say in this one, very nice,
cheers,
valda

Quinie is such an adorable word. There simply are not enough "q" words to go around. This poem is quite profound as well. Trust is the cornerstone of any relationship. It is absolutely essential.

So true what you're saying in this wonderful poem, If trust and belief in your partner has all but gone, then all is lost. I should know, hence I just divorced the man I thought I would have spent the rest of my life with. The foundation crumbled. All the best Ulla:)) I liked the word.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Ulla. Still, I think (based on experience) it's better in the long run to let it go than try to hang on, and make yourself more miserable. Many thanks, Craig

Great job with the poem and the meter, rhymes and enjambment. I do totally agree with your message. I like the metaphor of a building for the love relationship which needs to be balanced on mutual trust.

Aw this is a really nice poem, Craig. So true that important first stone if laid with precision, consistency and trust can lead to a long lasting structure.

A fine metaphor for a loving relationship. Congratulations on your book too. :)

Hello Craig. Yes there is that cornerstone but, what happens when you tell your partner over and over what's wrong and nothing gets done, or it simply doesn't last. Truth in relationships isn't everything it's cracked up to be mate. Loved this one. xoxo deborah

Thanks so much, Deborah. Men! Can't live with them, can't chop them into little pieces and bury them in the back yard (well, you can, but it's generally frowned upon). Most grateful, Craig :)

A very well-written poem about trust between two people that is the most important element of any relationship. If the trust is broken then the two people will certainly drift apart in a short time.

I've always been fascinated by the cornerstones in the older sections of the cities and towns I visit....especially the older small towns because sometimes they write even more than the date on them. I remember one from some tour we took back in school where it said 'For Her' in smaller letters off the the bottom....but it was obviously part of the original. :) :) A fun and interesting write, sir -- thanx, as always, for sharing! :) :) Yvette :)

Learned a new word! Thanks. This style is very intriguing to me, and I like it.
Even with a different sort of style, the message still comes out clearly and smoothly. The picture was well chosen, as it depicts exactly what you are talking about. This poem is beautiful and practical :-)
