Once again a well written chapter. You are an awesome writer. I can see why this was recognized. Your writing keeps your reader interested to what is going on in the story. Again well done.

This was quite a turbulent chapter but as always mesmerising and thrilling to the reader.

You really are an absolute master in this genre that, to the reader, is something between a psychological thriller and an enchanting memoir. There are still those heart-stopping moments and other times the heart simply picks up extra beats.

Excellent, Tony.

Hi Tony,
This is a story well worth finishing and to know you have the support of fellow writers is great.
The tale again contains interest and intrigue and follows on well from the last chapter.
It seems a tangled web is being weaved.
Keep weaving.
Blessings
Shirley

Well, that told us something, but not enough. It's a shame that envelope ended up in Alain's pocket. He was a grumpy old man, wasn't he? So, who are these two men who are stalking our couple? They are not bothered about being seen by them. There is something mysterious going on here. I hope to find out something in the next part. Well done, Tony, I'm sorry I don't have any 6s left, this was really well written. :)) Sandra xx

Hello Tony,
Another outstanding chapter for the book.
The mystery and intrigue continue. We now know a bit about Suzanne Gaudin
(and Col Neville Arnoux)
begrudging told by her grandson, Alain. Whether the letter is significant or not,
it is now in the wallet of Alain.
I like the scene with the crows, the symbol of death,
augmented by the witches at their cauldrons. Seams to bode evil ahead.
I've been told I write prose like a poet, which I consider a fine compliment.
You, too, write like poet, my friend.
Now about the two men in the dark suits, They are very good at trailing Charles and Helen,
but not very good at remaining concealed. lol
I say! This is a fine chapter.

Thanks, Robert. I'm a bit behind in responding to reviews, but very much appreciate your feedback and the six-star award. I think that all good writing verges on the poetic - in the sense of being an assemblage of the best words in the best order - so I particularly appreciate your comment about that.

-An excellent chapter, Tony,
that flows well from beginning to end,
and also creates suspense.
-We meet Alain and learn a little
about his family background, especially
Suzanne having been his grandmother.
-The two men appear again, and no one
knows who they are or what they want.
-My guess is they are acting too suspiciously
to be of the agreeable sort; they probably
know something, and want what
the others are looking for, too.
-You break this up nicely with the
lovely description of the gardens.

Thanks, Pam I'm glad that you are finding the balance between dialogue and description is about right. That's an area that I'm working on at present. Thanks very much, too, for your encouraging words and for the six stars. All the best, Tony

Oh the scoundrel! He sounds like a Picasso with his treatment of grandmother.

That said how nice to draw in that foreign flavour, one of the unique tones of your work.

HAHAAAAA, oh my word so it's the roses is it then that will be getting a whiz?

Just a lovely chapter of mixed emotions working in concert with each other.

This was a great read. I need to be a Fan so I get notices of following chapters. I was going through some reviews of my autobiography "The Little Dog That Wouldn't Let Go" and saw your review which I appreciate. I am checking to see who is still on FS of all the reviewers I have had for acknowledgement purposes, as I approach publishing of my book.
Your story looks good and sorry I have missed a lot. May go back and look at previous chapters. Glad you are still around.

Helen softens Alain with her flirty dialogue, works well Tony.
Loved the very descriptive paragraph as they made their way to the exit and the crows took off.Alain's story has more to it I'm sure.. Great chapter Tony,
