Ohhh! Why do you have to be SO good at knowing when to stop a chapter!! But, since I have them all before me, I don't have to pout! I'll just go right onto the next.

I love the way your chapters move so swiftly, yet they capture the genteel feeling of that time. The dialogue feels authentic, too. Once again, you've kept my interest and made me eager to read on. xo

I read this a few days ago, but as I was on my iPhone away from home I thought I'd delay reviewing. I like the way you develop Lady Monkton's character and the relationship between her and Mildred. I'm also beginning to get used to there being an invisible character around. It gives opportunities for some delightful touches of humour!

Thank you, Tony, for another lovely review. Veronica will need her invisible status soon.... I'm also pleased you liked Lady Monkton. There's lots of fun coming! Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Oh, there you go, Sandra, creating tension at the end that'll cause me to bite my lip and worry, until next chapter!

Gladys needs to be careful, with that creepy husband.

What would happen, if she left him?

Thank you so much for the 6 stars, my dear Sue!! The next part it out, and if you think this has a cliff-hanger, wait till you read the next part! LOL. Thanks my friend. Big hugs, Sandra xxx

Another great chapter, Sandra. It's good having Veronica there but invisible. It allows the reader to know what's going on via dialogue, and puts them in the room with the characters. So, will they be able to stop Gladys from getting into trouble? I doubt it, and it might change history if they do. What a dilemma! I can't wait for the next chapter.

Another fine chapter in your novel, Sandra. Your writing polished, lean and the development of characters between their interactions each other is quite delightful. This group of women bring out the best in each other, although done quite without that only intention.

Superb writing and a most interesting story.

Hello Sandra,
This is another well written chapter for the book.
Mildred is doing quite well for a novice time traveler
it seems she could just send Veronica back to the present and handle it all herself.
The dialogue is well done and the character of Amelie adds depth to that of Gladys.

I wonder if Joe's chocolate shop is any where nearby.
Maybe Mildred could stop in and taste her own chocolate.

'I really don't know [now]' I don't think you need the 'now'

Well done, my friend.
Robert

I had to laugh at Joe and his chocolate shop, :)) I think it might be his grandson now, or possibly great-grandson!

Thank you so much for the golden array of stars, Robert, and the lovely review. I really appreciate your continued support and fun reviews. Mildred is doing very well at the moment. We will see how she gets on later. Things are going to change!! Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

-This is a very good chapter, Sandra.
-The ideas flow well throughout.
-The humor between Mildred and Ver.
in the beginning is a good diversion
from the seriousness of the rally.
-Mildred does a good job in coming up
with answers to Gladys's questions,
and also in her visit with Amelia.
-Amelia is very pleasant, and makes
Mildred feel right at home; she is
not pretentious or snobby.
-She is concerned about Gladys, and
rightfully so, but Gladys isn't
confiding to anyone except Ver. and Mildred.
-It is interesting to learn at the end that
Charles's father was also a bully, but his father was not.

Thank you so very much, Pam, for your wonderful review, and all the lovely stars. I'm really pleased you like Amelia, she is very fond of Gladys, but she can't do anything to help her as she is as much a victim of the times as Gladys is. She was very lucky to have had a kind and loving husband, someone like her own father. They were around in those days, but you just had to look a bit harder to find them!! Can you imagine living like that with Robert? I told my husband he'd better not be getting any ideas as he would be thrown right out the door! lol!!! Thanks again my dear friend, I can't put into words how much I appreciate you. Big hugs, :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome and deserving, Sandra. Amelia is a good character. It is hard to imagine what a lot of the people had to endure in a different time. We are very lucky, indeed. Have a good day.

Excellent chapter. I am a fan of historical fiction and I enjoy the extra element of time travel. We tend to forget how things were in the past, especially for women.
Thank you for sharing this. I look forward to the next chapter.

Amelia seems like she would be the one to reach out and help Gladys with Charles' abuse. She's noticed it, but in those days I guess, a husband's right to discipline his property was accepted.
I really like that you show the tragedy of a woman's life in those days. It's sorry to say that in some religious thought this treatment is still accepted.

Keep up the good work.

Oh, I do like the cover picture.

Aw, thank you, Ellen, for the lovely review and all the shiny stars! I'm glad you enjoyed this part. Amelia understands Gladys, but until she says something to her, Amelia can't help her. It was like that in those days, actually, right up until 1975, in England. I couldn't believe it!

I'm really pleased you like my cover. I will have used it for all three books when this one is finished. I don't know if you remember, Avril Borthiry, (cumbrianlass) but she put the book title on the cover for the second book and changed the bottom of the picture for me, and she's offered to do the same for this book. I couldn't have done it!! My brain is too old. :))

Thank you again, my friend! Big hugs, Sandra xx

Of course I remember Avril. She's still pumping out great novels. I keep up with her on FB.
It makes sense that you two are friends. She seems like such a sweet person. Especially with helping you with your books' covers.

I'm enjoying your book, I'll put a review on when I've finished it. :))

Good to know you're enjoying the book. It is a rather hard read since it takes a reader to a different world and culture and forms of speech and communication. I especially loved the character of Grandfather Solomon and Aunt Nyowuor. ;)

I found it hard to begin with, but I soon got into it. There is loads of rich African culture and history in this, I love Khira! You certainly are a very talented author, Aki, I was impressed but not surprised at how many books you've written. I wish I'd started when I was younger. xx

I'm glad you're enjoying the read.

Have a wonderful week. BTW, did you know Margaret Snowden here in FS? She's not been feeling well. I loved her Victorian stories and she was one of my best reviewers here. I've tried to say hello to her through "contact" here but I didn't here back, so I'm a tad concerned.

Yes, I know her. Her family live near me. She is still posting on Facebook. But she has been busy. I don't think she comes on here anymore. She's been busy editing her latest books. :) xx
