A very well-written poem, everything is not always what it seems and we ofte are blindsided by the picture we are given and the hidden dark and dangerous we cannot see will get us under.

I never wrote about a dark side before, bu this was a challenge for Halloween. Thank you so much for your kind review.

Killer, indeed! I wonder if the invitation can attract enough sufficiently masochistic suicidal sybarites to get the party swinging?
Have fun, Bucketlist!

You're very welcome, Trisha. (You did't know 'sufficiently'?)

This could either be on an invitation to a fun halloween-themed party, or an invitation from an adulteress. I came up with the latter meaning from the picture. Interesting juxtaposition. Good job!

The artwork that you chose to enhance your poem is essential. I enjoyed the play on words and I can see that a man will die for beauty. There are many tales of the sea where mermaids lead sailors into the shoals.

An interesting notion to go with an equally interesting picture. Did you write this with the picture in mind? Needs a bigger font. LOL!

She's ribbing him. And I don't know if it's a bone-ified invitation.
No skeletons in her closet ...she doesn't have one....rumors are he will be des-pond ant after. Ok make me stop
I enjoyed this ...maybe too much
God bless

LOL, loved your clever review. It was a very macabre picture which had to be ekphrasically penned.
    Thanks so much

Perfect poem for the picture. Every word you chose matches the image perfectly. I mostly enjoyed the 'killer party' that goes well with the bottom part of the picture, and 'it will leave you breathless'.

The image goes soooooo well with the write up because she is trying to lure him into the lake where you could die (party to die for) I love this , it's different! The man is afraid. This has some kind of theme to it, which I cannot put my finger on right now :)

Could it be payback, jealousy, or just macabre thinking?! I really appreciate your great review.

Hi, Trisha,

Yes, those sirens invite the sailors to come to the party beneath the sea. Little do the sailors realize that following the sirens will surely mean their death. Men simply can't breathe underwater.

Well presented and worded in such a way to make the reader think it through,

~MP~
