Another "Wowie zowie" from me!! I am reading these so fast because I get drawn in quickly and want to know what's going to happen. Your characters are so sympathetic and smart, bold and believable! Great job, yet again. And to weave fictitious characters into real-life events is no easy task, but you're doing it beautifully! Sorry to be repetitive, but I am LOVING this story!! xo

My goodness! I'm three chapters in arrears - life's been a bit busy recently. Another superb chapter, Sandra. The excitement of the occasion and the drama come through strongly. I love the way you are using real life events as the basis of this compelling story.
Just one nit (I think!): All we've been shown so far is (are) everyday happenings.
Both forms can be correct, depending on the meaning, but since the 'all' here refers to more than one happening, I think the plural form is right. You might correctly say 'All is good' or something like that, when the 'all' refers to a single unit of wholeness, if you see what I mean!

Thank you so much for the lovely 6 stars, Tony, for this part. I'm just sorry it's not paying out any more. You are so kind to award it one of your precious sixes. You are right about the 'is/are' and I've now corrected it on here and in my MS Word copy. Thank you so much for that. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this part.Thank you, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Sandra, this is SUCH a good chapter, flipping marvelous! I mean, really, if I didn't know you, I would write and tell you what a great chapter this was. So full of action, descriptive scenery and character movement..... horror over the girl getting trampled... just really good stuff on your part!!

Bravo!!

The theme of women fighting for women's rights grabbed my attention so I dove into this post. The opening synopsis introduces the fact "Gladys" is a suffragette much to her husband's chagrin. That was a true-to-life occurrence. The fact he beats her, and their son, on any whim he has is also brought forth. Perhaps "book dating 1907" should be "book dated 1907"? Chapter 5 states "Gladys" is to tried for causing a disturbance. This was one of the many obstacles suffragettes faced. The gallantry of the horse races is introduced as a major social event, and a reason for wearing finery. The exception to this are "Veronica's" threads. The dialogue is believable for the era. The race is portrayed as an awesome adventure, even if the two ladies risked changing the course of history. Strong characterizations categorize the suffragettes and they are not going to be deterred from what they experienced in winning women's rights. The parallels of real life to the women in this story are well compared. The ending clarifies why "Gladys" was arrested. The follow-up of her trial should be attractive. No structural or grammatical errors noted. "Mary's" actions in laying in front of the horse demonstrated the extremes suffragettes were willing to go to for their cause.

Thank you so much, Ginnie, for reading and reviewing this part. I'm delighted you enjoyed it. This is the 3rd and final book in the This Time-That Time, trilogy. Each had it's own complete story with the same main characters, Veronica and Mildred. I hope to see you again, my friend. I have taken a look at your profile and noticed you had joined us this month, so a big welcome! :) Sandra xx

Great job on this historical fiction! I only knew about suffragette movement from the Mary Poppins movie. You made history come alive and made it really fun to learn.

Another great chapter, Sandra. You described the events so well, I could visualise everything clearly in my head. No spag that I can see, only the fact that I doubt the banners would have a comma before the word 'Emily'' and purely read 'Congratulations Emily'

I can't wait for the next chapter!

What an amazing story and I'm sure there's more of that where it came from. You have a natural ability to put pen to paper and gives us the opinion that we are in the midst of your story, particularly because there's an invisible person already in the story. Well written. PM

I really enjoyed your story --- fascinating about time travel, and then to boot, about the women's suffrage movement... I, no doubt, would have been right in the thick of it, particularly with how women are still not treated as equals, and have to suffer decisions MEN make about their bodies, etc., etc. reading your notes, that this was actually based on a real event, makes the story that much more interesting.. your story was easy to read, held my interest, was about a fascinating subject, and involved time-travel, which are all EXCELLENT attributes of a good story... look forward to reading more in the future..

Hello Sandra,
A splendid chapter combining fact with fiction, not an east thing to do.

The arrogance of the British upper class and men in particular is apparent in the story,
as it was real life. It wasn't til after the WWI that woman gained the right to vote and only those over thirty. I don't see much Veronica or Mildred can do about that.
Thus I suspect the story will go in a different direction.

Perhaps Gladys and Tommy will come to the fore.
Or if you really want to shake things up, have Mildred get a beau. lol
Oh Lordy, what do I do now?!

You carried this off quite well, my friend
Robert

LOL! Robert, I am not going to fall for that trick, you will have to wait and see. One clue, you are getting warmer on one of your guesses. :)) Thank you so much for this fun review and for all those lovely stars, my friend. I'm so pleased you still like the story. Thanks a million for that wonderful review you put on Amazon, Robert, I only saw it yesterday. You've been so kind. Thank you. :) Sandra xxx

-A very good chapter that shows a drastic
element of the suffragette movement, Sandra.
-The story progresses well as the events
happen and are later relayed to the other women.
-You make the transition back to their time
very well; I like the description of what Mildred is wearing.
It's nice to see her get extra special attention.
-The scene after that is riveting as Mildred
insists on trying to help Emily, against
the protests from Ver.
-Unfortunately, there is nothing
she can do for Emily, but she
does go to Gladys to support her.
-The next scene at the hall is
also well done and intense.
-There is nothing that is going
to stop Gladys and the other
women from protesting at Downing St.
-It certainly doesn't seem to
bode well for Gladys being involved.
