Your poetry was good, but your author notes bordered on amazing and for me, they more than the poem deserved the six stars.
Firstly, if I may I'd like to salute you for your inspirational actions in supporting those less fortunate. Your actions promote your beliefs wonderfully well. You prove the old adage of 'Actions speaking louder than words.'
The writing here is excellent while the story itself is, I believe ready made for the Reader's Digest magazine. Or maybe a collection of short stories. I can even suggest a title: Lunching with Losers in LA or Dining with the Down & Out.
Today Jan, you have made my day. You've reawakened my belief in humanity. May the Good Lord Bless you.

"A Perfect Lunch", is an extremely well-written and entertaining piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. You KEEP READING and I'll KEEP WRITING. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Hi Diana. This is an interesting post. You've combined your well written poem with the blurb about Jan Sheherd who took the time to get to know some of the street people. Nicely done. Marilyn

HI Diana, what an amazing story told my sweet friend...if only more people would care...I see them on the streets walking...and yes...I do give them money...and one I used to give bottled water for his dog...but I don't see him any more...but I am in my car when I go by the homeless...I often wonder what their stories are...sigh...your story is very well told...and thank you for sharing in your notes...your picture says it all...love you...Linda xxoo

Comment from Gloria ....
I very much enjoy the cadence of your fine poem, diana. Some great lines using opposites to illustrate the haves from the have nots. It is a little upsetting the first time you get screamed at by someone you don't even know.
Personal Poems Only One Dollar! That is great idea on his part.
This is superb and great reminder to all of us to share our abundance.
Much enjoyed

Thank you for sharing your generosity as you got to know these loving souls and your tribute to Jan Shepherd. I admired your rhymed quatrains plus "rags" and "mask" metaphors to underscore your point. Here's to continued joy and vibrancy and best wishes in the contest! -Joan

A very vibrant and touching write here, Diana, and I so enjoyed your extensive author notes! :) :) I have to ask, why do you not start a "book" here on the sight and give us a little write following each of your encounters ... I have a feeling I'm not the only one who would be interested in such! :) In fact, I'm pretty sure it will be great for you, too, because it will give you a little something to look back over when you get the 'blues' again! :) All I'm asking is that you think about it ..... please? :) ;)
Many blessings and thanx for sharing all these smiles and stories and wondrous encounters! :) ;) Yvette :)

so sorry have used all my 6's which this deserves - you must be an amazing person, your story really reached out and touched my heart. All the sad tales you must have heard, people do not realise some of the homeless are there due to unforeseen circumstances it can happen to anyone.
I have done a poem on the homeless, but nothing like yours, may do a few lines one day
Beauty comes from within, happiness showing through
