Hello diana,
My goodness!
Both your poem and Author's Notes are incredibly compelling. I would take the Author's Notes and submit it for the "Share Your Story" contest. What you are doing for these men goes well beyond what the "average" person is willing to do. You are a godsend...and a very fine poet as well...

Best Wishes!
diane

I had a college professor who said everyone is interesting and has a story to tell. Stop and talk to a stranger. You may find the most interesting people are the ones you walk past every day.

I agree with your pasture... everybody does have a story and when I take the time to listen (key ingredient) I find I'm not nearly as interesting as I thought I was an discover out similarities and realize few differences. yours, diana

A very touching and well written poem. You really should have entered your story as a piece of writing on the site rather than just an afterword. I think you should still do so. Very kind of you and a great idea taking to a safe place and learning from people who have been where others have not. I work with a population that includes a lot of homeless and it is an interesting thing to know about people's lives.

I am out of sixes. This deserves one. (plus) I so appreciate your lengthy author notes and your poem speaks volumes. We do have to be aware, don't we? It could be any of us under those circumstances. Life deals blows. Your poem is exceptional. Good Luck!

I am blown away by Jan's love. I'm so proud of her and for you bringing it to our attention,
My precious husband on occasion has invited people to live with us. One man had a nervous breakdown . My husband knew him and he was so grateful for the place to stay. We loved Maurice and helped him get back on his feet. That caused us more joy than he knew.
God bless

Jan, of course your poem is very good. I can't do what you do. It's not the money, I just have so many issues myself. The best I can do is get myself through the day. But, you are an example to us all. It's not so much that we have to be exactly like you, but we could do something. I'm guessing that your gift of self and making people feel better is contagious. Part of my problem, is that I always think the worst of people. I'll work on that. I wish you well.

Good for you...I am always telling others to put themselves in a homeless persons life. It could easily happen to any one of us. Im sure your generosity and empathy is appreciated.

Your poem highlights homelessness and resonates the way they are viewed by the majority. Its sad that we don't have more compassion for those less fortunate. Thanks for sharing.

I loved this very to point. It makes one feel the awareness within ones view. I really like the line " I managed a counterfeit smile, but sped up my pace". Very good keep writing. Cheers, Brian
