Nicely handled scene Tony between Charles and the very tipsy Helen. Now we have two intriguing stories, one about Helen's family and Suzanne Gaudin. Great chapter Tony,
cheers,
valda

This is the first time I have read this story and it showed promise of an interesting and not the ordinary mystery-romance story I have reviewed before. Thanks for sharing such an excellent plot and subject. I can't wait for the next post.

-An excellent chapter, Tony, that reveals
many emotions, from the playful
effects of the alcohol with Helen,
and the rugby songs, to the more
serious issues at the end.
-In between you bring us back
to the letter and raise some interesting
questions about Suzanne Gaudin, and
the mystery about her and the letter.
-The last section of the chapter is
very good, and lets us see a whole
different side of Helen, and how
difficult her life had been.
-It might explain why she
tends to be a bit on the playful
and suggestive side with Charles,
and why he finds himself wondering
exactly what it is she wants from him-
what her motives are.

Hello Tony,
Charles is such a nice guy. Of course those alarm bells
are a good reason for caution.
Helen's character is becoming more complicated with each chapter.
It'll be interesting to see how you weave all the plot strands together.
Very well written, with excellent dialogue.
I'm enjoying the mystery.
Robert

An aristocratic write, and good that you maintain the standard, or affluent undertones, not in showing the author's preference, but maintaining the legitimacy of the story. Bravo.

Nicely done.
Coming along fine.
Best wishes.

One of the things I adore and enjoy about this story is how sensitive Charles can be - a gentleman to the marrow. But I guess those were still the days of... shall we say remnants of chivalry ... even in Paris. Or especially in Paris.

I'm glad I caught this delightful chapter right after the previous chapter, so that I could piece them together well. Just the amazing read for my romantic-inclined heart.

I think I have to bookmark this so I get it in my inbox regularly.

Ha, don't you love it when you're right? Excellent choice as nothing other than the sofa bed would ever do under the circumstances.

Oh my this chapter played out wonderfully well. The back story and a chance for us to get a glimpse of the cultured handwriting, that reveals so much.

Very nicely written to how Helen is revealing the trauma of her family.

Great job, Tony. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Gloria

Good luck and good health, Giddy

Again beautifully written, Tony! You are really drawing us into your characters. On one hand, we're drawn to and attracted by the Helen character but like Charles, we're on guard not knowing how much to believe. Interesting background story that takes us into yet another world and culture!

Helen is a clever woman, and Charles had better be careful. He seems a bit careless, and easily swayed by her. She was plainly asking him to join him in the bed, but he had the sense to get her to sleep then go outside. He'll probably cave soon.
