This What Am I? question, Expensive Tastes, written in a 5-7-5 format, demonstrates that nothing exceeds like excess, even in the realms of antiquity.

This is a very creative poem. I had never heard that story about Cleopatra, so I had no idea what you were describing.
Best of luck to you in the contest

This is an awesome entry. I could not guess the answer, and I loved the Cleopatra story. One of the reasons that I do FanStory is to discover jewels like this. Your art work was great as well.

Appreciate your positive feedback on this piece on Cleopatra and the pearl - as they say truth can often be stranger than fiction!

This is a very good riddle that I was unable to answer. I really appreciate your notes, too, because I had never heard that story about Cleopatra.
Your phrasing is very good, especially your use of end rhyme and the personification of the pearl as "me."

Hello Anon
Ah, I knew this one! Well, maybe not the price-tag, but the legend. Still, a great choice for the competition brief and a real and novel 'riddle'.
I wish you well with this and with your further writing.
cheers

Ahhhh....but once they handle her, they may want to keep her hidden....for fear that others may want the same.....
Or him. Or it.
This is an extremely intriguing entry for the contest -- certainly is a mystery object if not for the pic you've chosen! :) ;)
Great job and good luck in the contest! :) ;)
