I can see it, smell it, even taste it!
and to remember, recall, those Sunday dinners.
They were so important, and looked forward to. You evoked this, these memories, and called up our senses.
and, sadly, that this is no longer the focus of a Sunday.
Growing up in NYC I was not privy to hearing the screen door slam, but did feel the anticipation. Thank you.

This one-hundred-word story, Memories of Sunday Dinner, falls within the limited format and paints a nostalgic picture of the important family function which was represented with respect and lots of love. Neat.

I remember Sunday dinners like that. This brought back a lot of memories. Is that a photo of your family?
Good job of telling your story in so few words. Good luck in the contest.

Hi there,
you've depicted a nice scene here. good levels of description and a nice sense of place.
The women, with Grandma at the head were dishing up the fried chicken - perhaps insert a comma after head.

Ahhh, yes, the good old days, when families actually sat down and ate dinner together.
All at the same time and place, no less.
Those days are gone.
What with Jr. having varsity football practice until 7:30 in the evening and his younger sister, Violet, at soccer practice until 6:00 in the evening, not to mention the wife's ballet dace classes from 3:00 until 5:30, and my golf outings every other day until 8:00 in the spring and summer, we all just eat what, where and when we can.
The kids are nowhere to be found on Sundays after church as they're usually involved in one or more of the youth functions held there.
Busy, busy, busy!
Good flash, thanks for sharing.

You did a good job with your 100 word story, Mystery Author. I enjoyed reading, although it made me want to partake of the food described. Your picture is supportive of your words. Best wishes. Jan

Sounds like a big family after church dinner, I could actually feel my stomach growl as I read what was for lunch over there. The story comes to life with the kids rumbling around and the men in the shirts,I could imagine them out there talking about next week's business... Good luck in the contest.
